Acoustic Energy の X がある。 Unfortunately, not all records were kept fully up to date so if it displays “unknown” then we have no further information for that model. However, should you have additional information you would like to share / add to the database (or are experiencing issues with this table) then please contact us.
Acoustic Energy has a presence on X. https://x.com/Acoustic_Energy This speaker brand has been off the radar of the main Japanese audio scene for quite some time. With around 4,500 followers, it’s likely that there aren’t many Japanese enthusiasts keeping up with it regularly. It is interesting to note that one of his followers is one of Japan's most famous lyricists, Takashi Matsumoto.
Yet, there was a time when Acoustic Energy (AE) was at the cutting edge of high-end speakers globally. This was probably from the late 1980s to the mid-1990s. I was captivated by AE during that era and still use my AE2 Signature even in 2024. In today’s tough market for audio brands, it’s impressive that AE is still around. While not a high-end brand, they must be effectively meeting a specific need. Plus, their website and X account are very user-friendly and, curiously, they’re quite accommodating with older products. You can even download old manuals and catalogs.
Recently, two interesting posts appeared on AE’s X account.
One is about Phil Jones, the founder of AE, visiting the company. He was, of course, involved with the legendary AE1 and AE2. https://x.com/Acoustic_Energy/status/1830911302337733072
The other post announces that they’ve digitized and made early production records available online. You can find out the production dates and distributors for models like AE1, AE2, and AE3 from the lot numbers. https://www.acoustic-energy.co.uk/support/serial-numbers-intro/ It’s truly wonderful. I’ve decided to remain loyal to them for life.
From the lot number of my AE2 Signature, I found out the production date of my unit: 25-Aug-95. So, it’s a 29-year-old model. Production was from 1994 to 2002, and mine appears to be quite an early one. Given that, it’s in remarkably good condition. My attachment to it has grown even stronger.
By the way, if you break down the lot number, you can find out how many pairs were made. It seems that 770 pairs of the AE2 Signature were shipped worldwide (including store/demo units), and the AE1, which was a big hit, had 4,775 pairs. Altogether, the AE1 series probably saw around 9,000 pairs produced.
There was some missing information about my units. However, the site states: “Unfortunately, not all records were kept fully up to date so if it displays ‘unknown’ then we have no further information for that model. However, should you have additional information you would like to share/add to the database (or are experiencing issues with this table) then please contact us.” I might contact Acoustic Energy about my AE2 Signature. お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
