tornado warning and the windy city
hey y'all im in indiana right now. and i have sad news, my group did not make the final round of the competition despite the fact that we played great! other people were just better. i mean, you really cant beat groups that rehearse for 3 hours a day every day with a coach that dedicates their all to them and their careers. but hey, we did our best and we've learned A LOT, so im pretty happy with the outcome. BUT despite the sad news we are all having a great time out here in the mid-west. when we got into chicago on thursday afternoon we headed straight for southbend indiana which was like 2 hours drive away. we played a house concert in the evening, which by the way, went great!! we rocked, and the people loved us. we played the next morning, got a photo shoot, and hung out at the competitino to scope out the other groups. the next day was a bit more interesting. we drove out to chicago to do some sightseeing. chicago is a truely awesome city. you guys definitely have to visit some time. we didnt have as nearly as much time as we wanted, but we drove around and walked around for a couple hours. i almost looks like cleaner new york. the architecture of this city is just amazing. they have the world's tallest scyscraper and many many museums which i was not able to go to due to our lack of time. i would love to go to the city again. last night was stressful actually, because that was when they announced the finalists. they made us eat dinner and listen to a boring pep talk/speech before they made their announcement. everybody was pulling out their hair by the time they announced it. man. but we mourned for ourselves after finding out that we didnt make it. we stood in line to talk to the judges and while we did that we were able to talk to each other and reconcile our lamets with each other, and im glad we did. we totally bonded and felt better after that. and you know, why shouldnt we. we're good. and as long as we know that i think we're fine. so here i am today, at borders, checking my email as we wait to hear our fellow souther californian as they go and kick everyone's *ss out of the water today. anyways, the weather out here is unbelieveable. there have been sporadic thunerstorms almost everyday now. its crazy how it just starts pouring all of a sudden. the rain here is nothing like the rain in california. when i say it pours, i mean it POURS!! we get the whole thunder and lightening deal too. its like those movies or pictures you see with the flash of lightening splitting the night sky with those cool flashing rods of electricity. its insane! an let me just tell you, the humidity has not been kind to my hair... i feel like im in japan. ugh. so today theres a tornado warning out. the wind is blowing like crazy and again, nothing like the wind in california. and oh my gosh....and when i say its nothing like california, i mean it. theres nothing out here. just green pastures with goats, lamas, and sheep, the occaional cows. but the horizon flat as the eye can see. lets just say that 'culture shock' is an understatement. well i need to prepare myself to take more of this in cuz i will be going to michigan later today...and i heard that some people there live without electricity and without cars, so im imaginig that they ride around in horses and buggys. wow....that'll be a sight to see. i cant wait, actually. i heard my friend's house is out by the woods, so ill be looking forward to that because the greenery of the mid-west is absoloutely gorgeous. ill try to write again if i can. hope all is well.
