Angel of an Album, Fallen to Earth
Adding My Voice To the Choir: Fallen Has Captivated Me.. Once in a Gr8 while I hear music which moves me in such a way that stirs up emotions in me that I didn’t even knew I could feel. When I saw the movie Daredevil I was bored out of my mind.. .. but there were two songs included in the movie that sort of made it worth seeing anyway. I still remembered that there were two shockingly good songs in the movie .. I immediately ordered the album from the US (it’s not available here yet), and I was in for a big surprise when I got the album. This is, hands down, the best album so far this year.!!!!! Evanescence has a sound totally their own, and don't try to ROCK you near as heavily as the kidneythieves would. Amy Lee also doesn't depend on four-letter words to get her points across. Although Lee's voice is hard to look past to even begin to think about the talented musicians behind her, the guitars & drums in Evanescence are heavy enough to satisfy those with a hunger for the hardest Rock. The piano in the majority of the songs adds the nessesary touch to make the gothic songs, well, gothic.....The music is a blend of gothic sounds, all delicious... The base is rock, but they add strings and strong piano (or light when it needs it), adding to the darkness of the sound... There is also the Millenium choir hovering in the background for several of the songs - they add to the haunting mood, and sound breathtaking behind Amy's voice. (Vienna boys they are not.!! ) Give Evanescence a try. If you like an angelic singer or cruncy metal guitars (or both) you are sure to like this album. 【Fallen】 by Evanescence Amy Lee's Vocals, Nice Songwriting, Nice Riffing here & there.. Bid my Blood to Run Evanescence is a quartet that hails from Little Rock, Arkansas. The vocalist Amy Lee met guitarist Ben Moody at a Christian youth camp a few years ago, and in the late 90’s they formed a band called Evanescence together with another guitarist, John LeCompt & drummer Rocky Gray. They were featured on the Daredevil OST, and got a huge hit with their song "Bring Me To Life " which features Paul McCoy from 12 Stones. In March 2003 they released their debut album "Fallen" which has sold thousands of copies already. If you read the lyrics & the song titles of "Fallen" you can see the gothic element. It's like Lee & Moody are trying to produce the soundtrack for an Anne Rice movie or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The band did get its big break with 2 songs making it into the soundtrack for the movie "Daredevil".. Jennifer Garner plays a vengeance driven Elektra , armed with a pair of sais, who slashes her way through suspended bags of sand in a martial arts exercise to the music of Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life." The song's energy does fit the scene despite the subject of the lyrics. "My Immortal " was the other song in the soundtrack. Besides "Bring Me to Life ," I have several other favorites on this album: album opener "Going Under ," "Haunted " which has it's name for obvious reasons when you hear it and for its choral arrangements, and the closing song "Whisper " for its background Gregorian-style chants. If Evanescence's later work is like their debut, "Evanescence" won't be. This music will grab hold of you at your root and it will not let go. More than hypnotizing, You will not regret owning this music. 【Track Listings】 01. Going Under 02. Bring Me To Life 03. Everybody's Fool 04. My Immortal 05. Haunted 06. Tourniquet 07. Imaginary 08.
