Humor With Some Aviation Flavor
Light & very Enjoyable Reading... This book is witty, charming, and offers some amusing observations about those who spend their lives up in the sky. In fact, I brought this little tome with me on a flight to Tokyo and my mood was definitely NOT bad. It was either this hilarious, well-written book or the six "drinks " I was served in first class. Like my flight (and the last two drinks ), this book is first class. Rene sets the stage using a fictional airline called WAFTI (We Apologize For This Inconvenience Airlines). She walks you through the daily life of a flight attendant based on real life experience with a touch of humor added to it. As a fellow Flight Attendant I found reason to this book. If you are considering purchasing this book, let me enlighten you as to what you will not find in this book : if you are looking for "dirt" or "gossip" about other airlines (our employers insure that we know nothing about other airlines in the event that they have better contracts or benefits.. Just like you, we only know what we read in the Money section of USA Today); Ms. Foss does not disclose what airline she works for (after all, she still has to work); insider travel deals or specials (9 out of 10 times flight crews have no idea what promotions are being offered by their employers - we fly space available when not working).. What you will find is a Flight Attendant with a sense of humor and a realistic outlook on this job. She educates you on the secret language of flight attendants with a chapter devoted to that. Ever wonder what "Just a few moments " really means ... A long time. A very long time It's a gr8 read if you want to be entertained, and it's a must-read if you are considering a job as a Flight Attendant !!!! She also gives examples of the questions we are asked on a regular basis. Some of them so ridiculous you'll be holding your sides from laughing. Its light reading and enjoyable. If you want a glimpse into the daily life, the real world of a flight attendant this is the book to read. 【Rene Foss et al】Around the World in a Bad Mood!: Confessions of a Flight Attendant Hilarious Look at Flying the Friendly (or not so friendly) Skys "Around the World in a Bad Mood; Confessions of a Flight Attendant ", was written by real life flight attendant, Rene Foss. The book is based on the musical, titled the same, which she wrote a few years earlier. Holy cow, I couldn't stop laughing while reading this book !! If you have ever worked in the airline industry this book is a definite must read. If you have ever worked in the service industry you will certainly get a kick out of it. And if you have ever traveled as a passenger or ever been a customer of anything you should read this book and perhaps gain some compassion and appreciation for what the rest of us go through to wait on you. I purchased this book because my mom has spent a few years of her life working in the airline industry (free flight benefits will catch anyone's attention ) and thought I could relate to the topic at hand. I always enjoy a light hearted read and it was recommended to me by many comrades. Rene Foss has a brilliant talent for creatively sharing so many experiences in the airlines. Everyone who has ever chosen air travel as a means from getting from point A to point B has a story. Usually it is how terribly the airline they chose did them wrong. In this book is about the EMPLOYEES' stories. It gives a unique insight as to what those 'terrible ' airline employees go through ; and what they might be thinking while they are smiling ever so radiantly at the passenger who screaming his heart out certain that this particular individual is out to ruin his life. There is no way you can't muster up even a little bit of sympathy for them, airline or any other member of the service industry, after reading this book. Rene has given the industry a voice in this book. She, at the very least, has personalized airline employees. She mentions in the book how the traveling public is invariably on She also states reasons as to why the industry, as a whole, is so frustrating to the public. And then she also tries to remind the traveling public(in a light-hearted, humorous way) that airline employees are people too and they just doing their job. Granted, this book may not be for everyone (although I wish everyone would read it ). If you choose this book to read please remember to keep your sense of humor. While reading the stories thats are written know that they are being told with a gr8 deal of sarcasm and wit. I believe the author is only partially expecting the reader to take her seriously. If you have ever had a bad experience with an airline or an airline employee please try not to take these stories too personally. If anything try recounting your bad experience and think of what it might have been like for the other party of the experience. This one was a "couldn't" put down book. I took it to school and passed it on to some friends. Im not really a reading type of person, A matter of fact I was sick one day and I was watching today and they were interviewing Rene Foss. I had never heard of her before, and just thought to myself who in the world would want to be an author. But this book totally changed my way of thinking and made me want to read more books. The thing was books are so boring and rene made that turn around. She made the book so interesting I just need to find more books by her. お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
