"Superstar" is SUPER !!!
"You are your own rainbow " and " Give me the sugar" are both lines from the BEST movie ever created...SUPERSTAR
I beleive I've seen this movie about 6 or 7 times, and every time I see it, I notice more funny things that I didn't see the last time.
I really enjoy SNL bits and the movies I have seen before, such as "A Night At the Roxbury " also starring Will Ferrell.
So Superstar was a must-see for me !!
Molly Shannon really outdoes herself in this comedy.
She takes her character one step further, which proves to be a hilarious, knee-slapping comedy with some crude sexual humor, as most SNL bits contain.

Shannon plays Mary Katherine Gallagher, a clumsy misfit in a Catholic high school.
Her parents died when she was younger and is left in the care of her grandmother.
She is also the rewind girl at the video store so she can study all the classic "superstar " kiss.
Mary's only dream in the world was to have a movie star-like kiss, and she decided she wanted her kiss from the school's best dancer, Sky (Will Ferrell).
However, his popularity and his girlfriend, Evian keep Mary from realizing her dream.

After being placed in a special class, Mary meets other kids with problems as herself.
One, who becomes her best friend, is overly aggressive, one kid pretends he is high, and another has a compulsive disorder.
A kid in the class, Slater, who is said to be a murderer from public school.
Then there is a Talent show to combat Venereal Disease.
This gives Mary the opportunity to become a superstar and get her super kiss.
After overcoming the evil ploys of sabotage from Evian, Mary manages to win and get her kiss from Sky, although it was only "ok ".
Mary finds out that Slater was the boy she saved from drowning when she was a little girl, and he is in with her.
After the talent show, she kisses him and they go out.

Comedy High, You'll Laugh Until You Cry
Okay, I'm a cheeseball. I know it.
I slapstick comedies, stupid comedies, comedies with class, you name it.
If the movie is well done, I'll be the first to tell you.
If it sucked worse than a vacuum, I'll tell you that, too.
I really, really, really this movie.
It's not one of my favorites, but I rally did enjoy it.
I went to see it with a xxxfriend of mine.
It was perfect, because he's an aspiring singer and I'm an aspiring actress.
Plus, we've got a "Superstar!! " joke between us.
We laughed all throughout this movie.

In short, Mary Catherine Gallagher is a soft-spoken, nerdy student in a Catholic high school.
She wants, more than anything else in the world, to become a superstar.
So, against her grandmother's wishes, she auditions for and gets accepted in the school's talent show.
After a fight with a cheerleader named Evian, Mary Catherine gets put in a "special " class.
She, with her grandmother's help, lead the class to victory in the talent show.
Mary Catherine finally gets to go to Hollywood, because she is a SUPERSTAR !!

Wow...when I went to see this movie, I had a little bit of an idea of what it would be like, but I didn't think it was going to be as funny as it was.
With members of Saturday Night Live, you are guaranteed to be laughing long after it is over.
This movie is really funny, with several parts that a "normal " person wouldn't do.
Mary Katherine Gallager (Molly Shannon) is a messed up girl, who finds herself in special education, because of how she acts at school.
Then, she enters a talent show to prove herself worthy of respect by the other, more popular students.
This is no ordinary girlfriend.
She is the biggest cheerleader and she is really stuck up.
She does all these walks and charity drives.
She really hates Mary and she always calls her "supersuck"
You will laugh at how she wants to get to Sky.
You will dance at the cafeteria scene.
This is the best movie and I would suggest this movie for anyone to see.
It is halirous.
It will have you dancing and laughing.
It makes for one good friday night to get your weekend going....

Well, much to my surprise - all though this movie is the stupid comedy that I hate - it is surprisingly funny.
I found myself trying to hold back my laughs at the stupidest parts - I did not want my lover to know I liked it.
Mary Katherine Gallagher portrays a clutsy, goofy, love sick schoolgirl.
Something everyone of us has felt at one time or another.
I laughed at the things she did - kissing the tree, falling for the most popular boy, having high dreams for the future.
This movie isn't for everyone.
Maybe I just needed to laugh at something...but I did find this a very mindless, funny movie.

In the end she does go to the talent show, with Grandma helping her and her friends learn dance movies. (against her first wishes that her grand-daughter not dance ever..you will find out why when you watch the movie, a silly reason )
Mary gets her kiss at the end, but she realizes, who she really wants to kiss isn't that super popular boy but someone else. (You will find out who )
That is just a quick run down of the movie.
There is much more in-between all those scenes.
You will find the silly story fun to watch and get an evening filled with laughter and gufaws.
