Revenge is a Dish Best Served with... Cockroaches?
Addicted to Laughs !!!!! Meg Ryan stars with Matthew Broderick in this way-out, wacky comedy about well-thought-out revenge. When Sam's (played by Broderick ) girlfriend Linda (played by Kelly Preston ) runs off to New York with the most obnoxious Frenchman EVER to grace motion pictures, SAM (an astronomer ) says goodbye to his star-gazing co-workers, packs up and runs off to New York to track her down. Once there he moves into the abandoned factory across the street from her and her boyfriends apartment. The fun begins as he invents all sorts of clever ways to spy on the two of them. His curiosity soon turns into an obsession and he spends every moment of his day peering into their lives. And then one day, out of the blue, Maggie (Ryan) shows up in biker gear, big black boots, and a MAJOR chip on her shoulder. From here on out, Maggie bolsters her way into Sams life and starts calling the shots. THIS this is where the fun begins. The revenge war is on ... roaches, strawberries in the pillow, sidewalk brawls, and lipstick laden monkeys ... it's all part of the rollicking scheme to heap revenge upon the head of Maggies ex-boyfriend.. Griffin Dunne directs this rather slow-paced, but edge of your seat dark comedy.. At times I didn't know who to cheer for and before the movie was over I actually felt sorry for the strawberry-induced, rash-covered Frenchman I had at one time loathed..... The soundtrack to this movie is something special and should be acknowledged here. This soundtrack has a couple of English speaking songs but mostly the music featured is in another language. Je T'Aime Moi Non Plus by Serge Gainsbourg, or Victime De La Mode by MC Solaar are two French songs here that give authentic ambiance to the film. This movie introduced me to Luscious Jackson with their song Naked Eye, and of course, we have "Addicted To Love " by the late Robert Palmer. 【Meg Ryan】Addicted to Love【Matthew Broderick】 Meg Ryan is HOT, Movie is Really Funny, Good Date Movie.. Meg Ryan is so wicked in this movie that it's addicting. Her character eventually entices the straight Sam to play the same games as she. Matthew Broderick is gr8 in whatever I watch with him.. Another one of my favorites with Matthew Broderick is The Night We Never Met.. This movie makes good use of its all-star cast.. Having Kelly Preston portray Linda Green is very effective because it makes it so much more believable that a man would go to such lengths to win back his woman.. She looks beautiful, and plays the perfect woman who changed so drastically since she's been gone effectively..... The on-screen chemistry between Broderick and Ryan had a bit to be desired, but watching the two of them fall in was sort of like watching sea-monkeys hatch ... something just kept me glued. Even my lover[s] enjoyed this movie and commented that Ryan needs to make more tough-chick films like "Addicted to Love ". Let me add here that watching Ryan gruff her way through a movie isn't the easiest thing in the world. You keep expecting her to "snap out of it " and become the shiny wide eyed girl we've come to expect in movies. Instead, I found myself drawn to this rough talking, COMPLETELY self reliant biker chick. Truly, "Addicted to Love " is one I'm glad I didn't overlook at the dvd store ... it's a wonderful two-hour roller coaster ride. The movie deals with dark subjects as voyeurism, lying, destroying a person's character, maiming...etc. But, having said this, the movie almost bases its laughs on these dark occurrences. What happens as the result is the plot produces more 'straight men '. I don't mean hetero, I mean 'straight man ' as opposed to the slapstick person. Abbott and Costello were a perfect comedy team, and Lou Costello was the silly goof, while Bud Abbott was the stiff straight man. To me, the reaction of the straight man is what makes me crack up the most. Matthew Broderick's character is the straight man in the beginning, but then transforms into the goofy guy. Anton Depeux changes from sill to straight as well, and effortlessly. The film is full of one liners delivered at just the right moment. You'll find yourself cheering for Ryan & Broderick. Kelly Preston delivers one of her best performances to date and the entire movie is focused on the four primary characters. The film has many bloopers in it and for them to be so obvious just adds to the charm of this movie. Well, after they scheme and plot and play tricks on their exes, they finally get the chance to be with their exes again. And they realize that their exes aren't what they want anymore. They realize what they really want is each other. It's a really cute and funny love story. A sweet, romantic comedy. It just keeps getting better as it unrolls !!!! Ryan is especially good and comical in her role. There are no minuses to this film !!!!! An Enjoyable rip-off of "French Kiss". お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
