"That Thing You Do!" It's "Something Snappy"
The Song Gets Stuck in Your Head !!!! "That Thing You Do! " is one of my favorite movies of all time. I the song too. It just makes you want to get up and dance. It is a very catchy song. It starts out with a band just doing one gig to win some extra cash, then a guy saw them and wants them to play at his restaurant , but they had no idea who would see them there and what would happen to them after that. They get managed and get big and big and bigger and then something surprising happens at the end. It doesn't just make everything all fine and dandy. It's a real movie. Of course I wouldn't give the ending away. But you get to see what they had to go through and all the tough times. Also, one of the guys in the band, Jimmy, has a girlfriend named Fay.. She is a big part too and a really good ending happens with her.. I recommend this to anyone who loves music and likes just seeing what it's about.. Just a little band in Penn. to rock stars.. It shows the triumphs, disapointments, victories, and tragedies that a lot of bands around then and now go through...... It also features many cameo performances including Kevin Pollack, Rita Wilson, Chris Isaak, Peter Scolari and Clint Howard.. After seeing their drummer (Ribisi) fall and break his arm, three guys (Schaech, Zahn and Embry) are desperate to find a new percussionist to help them win a talent contest.. They approach Guy Patterson (Scott) and he accepts the position.. After only one practice session, Guy memorizes the song and takes it upon himself to double its tempo...and in the process created a sensation that swept the nation.. The rest of the movie follows The Wonders from their hometown of Erie, Penn.. All the way to L.A. ..... I totally recommend this movie. It's 100 minutes of absolute fun and good, original music (most of the songs were written by Hanks ). This movie shows that one minute you could have all the fame and the next be just someone from the past. I think anyone who likes the type of music would like the movie. 【Tom Everett Scott】That Thing You Do!【Liv Tyler】 Tom Hanks Wears Many Hats !!!!! This was the first and, so far, only time I've ever run straight to the music store to buy a soundtrack.. Back in the '60s when not-so-hip movie producers were trying to make films with rock'n'roll music but were too cheap to buy the rights to existing songs and there were, apparently, no rock'n'roll songwriters in Hollywood to write worthy originals, rock'n'roll scenes in movies were laughable, if not downright painful to watch..... Even the music for those awful Beach Party movies that were aimed at teenaged audiences was terrible. It was comical (though we weren't laughing ) to watch actors pretending to be dancing and bopping along to thoroughly rotten music. In reality, no self-respecting teenager would have hung around for more than four minutes at those parties if THAT was the music that was playing. (The exceptions were, of course, the two Beatles movies, "Hard Day's Night" and "Help." ) Fortunately, as younger movie producers began breaking into Hollywood, starting with Dennis Hopper's ground-breaking "Easy Rider," rock'n'roll soundtracks began to improve. I knew I the title song; I'd heard it a zillion times during the previews for the film. Every song is an original, but they sound exactly the same as songs from that era (1964). There are 4 or 5 songs from The Wonders (the band the film follows from the garage to superstardom ) as well as songs from other artists in the film heightening the versimilitude of the soundtrack. The entire album is wonderfully zippy and prompts the listener to sing-along. Couple of neat points: Tom Hanks wrote a couple of the songs, including the first song on the album and in the movie. The album cover gives no clue that these bands/artists never existed outside of this film, a stroke of genius in my opinion. Another plus: the songs are on the album the order they are heard in the film which is nice for those like me who can't remember what was happening during a song unless several clues are given. The Wonders, or should I say O'Neders, were just a local band in Erie, Pennsylvania when fate took over and brought their fame. The portrayal of how the band rises, and eventually falls, is so realistic that it is hard to tell if they were a real band or not. As the movie progresses, the viewer can see the Wonders improve more and more, which really helps to bring them to life. The music is extremely fun and upbeat. It just makes you want to get out of your chairs and dance. The music also seems so real. The viewer would think that it really could haven risen the charts as it did in the movie. The acting of Tom Everett Scott is Gr8. He really gives the band human characteristics, and he is so sweet that you can't help falling in with him. The main reason that I this movie so much would have to be that it is so packed with hilarious details that the viewer can only get after watching several times, but it is worth it. Be careful though, the soundtrack will definitely stick in your head. If you've never seen the movie (you should ), and you listen to the soundtrack you'll probably be asking yourself why some of the CD's 14 songs are on there. But the soundtrack is an homage to '60s music, good and bad, and pretty much follows the movie chronologically. The first track, the Hanks-penned "Lovin' You Lots and Lots ," a Ray Coniff Singers knockoff, harkens us back to a time when rock'n'roll had to share air time on radio stations with saccharine songs from the likes of Nat King Cole and Steve Lawrence that appealed to parents but turned teenagers into zombies for two and a half minutes. The brutally bad "Shrimp Shack " is a snide dart thrown at the old Beach Party movies. The good news is that there are far more great songs than bad ones on this soundtrack. The liner notes are particularly clever. If you're under 40, you will believe that every song and every band on this CD actually existed back in 1964... For those of over 40, it's almost impossible to believe that they didn't. お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
