K2 is a STAR Baby !!!!!
Adrenaline Rush !! This movie starts off with a snippet of the Eagles song , "Take it to The Limit " sung by a young Annie Garrett (Robin Tunney) hanging on the side of a mountain. Annie is there with Royce Garrett (Stuart Wilson II ) her father and Peter Garrett (Chris O'Donnell ) her brother, they are mountain climbers all. The father has been doing it for years and he is good, very good, knows what hes doing at all times, he has passed those skills on to his daughter and son. After singing a snippet from the song MacArthur Park which is all about the tragedy of leaving a cake out in the rain, a real tragedy strikes and as a result the father dies. Annie doesn't know how to deal with it or Peter who she holds responsible, even three years later when they meet at the base of K2. Annie is preparing to take a summit team on a speed ascent of K2, she can't bring herself to talk to Peter or deal with their fathers' death, she doesn't want to deal with it. As Annie ascends K2 a storm quickly gathers and her summit team is trapped in a mountain cavern , the storm is followed by an avalanche, their cavern is covered and they are in serious need of help. Peter who has not climbed since the tragic day their father was lost mounts a team of six to rescue the three survivors. Montgomery Wick (Scott Glenn ) who lost his wife to K2 and some say his mind was lost as well, volunteers to lead the rescue team. In addition to the $500,000 offered as a reward, Peter soon finds that Montgomery has another reason for volunteering to lead the rescue mission. The best part of this movie is that it was shot on location on an actual mountain peak.. Them there mountains that you see are real and they are un-forgiving.. The cold and the ice are real and in this movie they become a living breathing thing of beauty with a danger that is sudden and intense to the extreme..... This movie opens with a level of intensity that will carry you through the remainder of the movie. The action scenes are crisp and they practically jump off the screen, you never know where the danger will come from next. Scott Glenn is Gr8; you can feel the pain of his character, the resolve and his determination. Robin Tunney and Chris O'Donnell are well cast as brother and sister; the scenes they have together from first to last ring true and touch the heart. There is a supporting cast of characters that are fun to watch and they bring some welcome comic relief to the proceedings. 【Chris O'Donnell】 Vertical Limit 【Izabella Scorupco】 Vertical Limit-Hold Your Breath... For you adrenaline addicts, this movie is for you especially. In the first scene of the movie, we see Chris O'Donnell on a mountain with his father, sister and a few of his friends. When something goes wrong at the top, they all are at risk. This is when his dad tells him to cut the rope that was holding his father on to him and his sister. With this amount of weight, the metal bolt that was holding them on would have broken. He bravely cuts the wire leaving his father to have a gruesome and sad death. The movie cuts to three years later where is on a mountain as a photographer for National Geographic. He finds out that his sister was at a site near by and was about to leave on a hike to the top of the mountain. The burden of his father's death distances her from him. She resents what he did.... Bill Paxton played the love interest of his sister. He was to go on the hike with them to promote a new airline. He is an extremely wealthy man, and we later find out that he was a coward by lying about a prior situation where they were stranded with short supplies. They leave for their hike to the top of the infamous K2 mountain. The head hiker warns the team to go back because of weather, but the ignorant character than Paxton plays wants to continue. Winds pick up and an avalanche strikes. The team is engulfed by snow and ultimately stranded inside an ice cave. O'Donnell's character quickly agrees to go up the mountain to save them. He was part of a team of six climbers all at that site on the mountain. To break through ice once they find the victims, they needed explosives. That is why they brought Nitrogen canisters. This made the journey more interesting because they are explosive and extremely powerful. They later find out that the sun triggers them. So when the sun heats up the nitrogen, they will explode. With the limited time that they had to work with (36 Hours) , they asked an old man that climbed everyday on that mountain to help them. You might remember of him from the trailer as the guy that looked like he needed a shower. He agrees to help them and save the three remaining people stuck in the cave. This movie had a thrill every minute. From the very first scene, to the final stunt when they are almost going to die in the cave, this movie was action packed. This was not empty action though; it was well thought out and suspenseful as well. It is a story of heroism and heartbreak. Vertical Limit delivers..... So how did I like this movie? Lets see how Vertical Limit stacks up. Ratings are from one to five stars........ Note that this is a weak five. What made it a weak five is the way that four people died to save one and the movie ended quite abruptly. I how Bill Paxton can play a great good guy, and you can him because he can also play a great bad guy. In this movie, he played as the enemy even though you don't realize this until well into the movie. I recommend this movie to anyone that wants to have their heart beating and feel the danger. There was action every minute of the movie, and suspense that was carefully written. お気に入りの記事を「いいね!」で応援しよう
