休眠たまご♪

Yasukuni means “peaceful nation shrine", which was originally constructed by order of Meiji emperor in 1869. After World War 2 in 1945, US made this shrine independent from Japanese government to be the privately found.

Visiting this shrine by our prime ministers has been controversial among neighboring countries for years. I personally think that they should not visit or at least hold to visit Yasukuni until the time that we can take what happened in the past seriously and deal with this issue as a country comes.

Germany is one of the countries that healed the wounds of war thoughtfully and honestly. I think there are a lot of things we can learn from them.

First, review our history textbooks and make it revised for better education. Establish such organizations publickly opend which enable us to compare school textbooks with those of different nations. In this way, we can cognitive the gap among nations and make the hidden history visible for children.

Second, establish the monuments which remind us of the past as victimizer not only victims during the war in various places. It also can show many people including travelars our reflections on our past. We can learn the lessons from history and the stance will help to have commitment in lasting peace.

Third, read other news and comments from other countries on the net.
It takes time to change country, but each of us can do something from today! We often rely on the information merely obtained from our own media. Go into other e-news from China and Korea etc. which also are written in English and try to feel what they feel. There may be something new you do not know.

In conclusion, I think our prime ministers, who are thought as representative of us, should not visit or at least hold to visit Yasukuni Shrine until we can take the past seriously and do something for better world.

昨夜、ＮＨＫの「英語でしゃべらナイト」を見て、ちょっとうずうずした。
ので、今日は英語で書いてみた。

上記のように展開しましたが、
ドイツは、「ナチス」を反省の核として掲げ、ドイツ国民が批判・反省することで今日のような戦後処理を達成し易かったとも言えると思います。そういう観点では、日本は天皇は単なる象徴であったとして批判を向けることが出来ず、また天皇を取り巻いた軍事政府に対しても曖昧で、批判し反省すべきはっきりとした対象が欠けているという背景において、難しいのかもしれません。まあ難しい問題ですね。

基本的には、何に対しても、サイト上で「べき」「べきでない」と述べたくないのですが、ここでは英語の勉強ということで・・
