もっと世の中の役に立つように、その活力を活用できないものでしょうかね。

ウイルス駆除ソフトを入れるたびにパソコンが重くなってとってもいやです。

　京都府警ハイテク犯罪対策室と五条署は２４日、ファイル交換ソフト「Ｗｉｎｎｙ（ウィニー）」で人気アニメ画像の入ったコンピューターウイルス「原田ウイルス」の一種を不特定多数に配布したとして、同ウイルスを作成した大阪府泉佐野市の２０代の大学院生と、これを配信した２人の計３人の男を著作権法違反容疑で逮捕した。ウイルス作成者の逮捕は国内で初めて。情報漏えいを引き起こすなど、ウイルス被害がインターネット社会でまん延する中、反響を呼びそうだ。

　作成者以外に逮捕されたのは、同府と兵庫県内の３０代の男。３人は容疑を認めているという。

　調べでは、大学院生は昨年１０～１１月ごろ、感染したパソコンの画面に人気アニメが現れるウイルスを作成。不特定多数にばらまいて、アニメの著作権を侵害した疑い。別の２人はウィニーを使ってこのアニメを配信した疑いが持たれている。

　原田ウイルスは１００種類以上の亜種があり、ウィニーなどのファイル交換ソフトによって感染すると「原田」を名乗る男の画像が表示され、パソコン内のデータが勝手に削除されることもある。関係者によると、元々の原田ウイルスは、アニメ映像の代わりに「原田」を名乗る男の顔写真が使われていた。また原田ウイルスを作成するツールもネットで流通しているという。

　府警は０４年、ウィニー開発者の元東京大助手、金子勇被告（３７）を著作権法違反ほう助容疑で逮捕（京都地裁で罰金１５０万円の判決、大阪高裁へ控訴中）。関連捜査から今回の容疑が浮上した。【熊谷豪、細谷拓海】

　◇原田ウイルス

　感染すると、パソコンの画面に「おまえはもう死んでいる。（中略）ここに来い。そして俺に謝れ。さもなくば、このＰＣは自爆する」と勝手に表示される。音楽や動画などのファイルを「原田」と名乗る若い男の画像に置き換えたり、システムファイルを削除するものもある。この男が目をつぶっている写真が画面に表示されたり、静岡県警の偽のホームページが現れるものもある。


Computer virus creator, distributors arrested for violating copyright laws
KYOTO -- A university student who wrote a virus that was distributed through the file-sharing software program Winny and two people who spread the virus, which contained images from a popular anime, have been arrested, police said.

The three, whose names were withheld, were arrested on suspicion of violating copyright laws in connection with the malicious program, a strain of the Harada virus.

It is the first time for the creator of a virus to be arrested in Japan, and the move by police, which comes as information leaks and other damage caused by viruses spread over the Internet, is likely to produce a deep reaction.

Investigators said that between October and November last year, the university graduate student created a virus that caused images from a popular anime character to appear on the screens of infected computers. He allegedly distributed the virus to an unspecified number of people and violated a copyright on the anime. The other two suspects are accused of distributing this anime through the file-sharing software program Winny.

Sources close to the investigation said "Harada" in the name of the virus was a real person, and it was likely that photographs and other information displayed by the virus was that of an acquaintance of the virus creator.

In 2004, Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested Winny's developer Isamu Kaneko, a former research assistant at the University of Tokyo, on suspicion of assisting copyright violations. He was handed a 1.5 million fine at the Kyoto District Court, which he is appealing in the Osaka High Court. Police said that that latest allegations surfaced during a related investigation.

Computers infected with the strain of the Harada virus in question display a message saying, "You're already dead. Come here. And apologize to me. If you don't, this PC will self-destruct." Files such as music and video files are replaced with photographs of a young man named Harada, and in some cases, the Harada virus deletes system files. In other cases, a fake Shizuoka Prefectural Police home page is displayed.
