A storm caused the Black Sea to overflow in Giresun on Wednesday, damaging cars and the road.
The storm started in the morning of Wednesday and hit the Black Sea province of Giresun, triggering flash floods in many parts of the province that damaged cars on the Black Sea Highway and a number of buildings close to the coast.
Giresun's coastal areas were badly affected by the storm, which flooded Atatürk Boulevard, Port and Gemilerçekeği neighborhoods. The police station, firehouse and other buildings on Atatürk Boulevard were damaged, and cars stuck in traffic were unable to move.
In other news, a storm in the Black Sea province of Giresun was focused on by the Turkish press.
“Tsunami of the Black Sea” was MILLIYET’s front page. The daily reported that the storm paralyzed life in the province where waves reaching 20 feet (6 meters) halted traffic on the coast for three hours.
HABERTURK said: “Black Sea rises.” The paper stated that cars were swamped by flood water and roads were closed because of the storm.
Similarly, SABAH used the title: “Black Sea surrenders to huge waves,” running with a photo on its front page showing a car being dragged away by flood waters.
