2011 Jun.12 Bachfest Leipzig, Jan Garbarek Group feat. Trilok Gurtu
The programmes in our Open-Air concert series spring from the spirit of a lively and exuberant urban music scene which is accessible to all, and with their sounds both Baroque and modern create an atmosphere of their own in Bach’s city of Leipzig. In ?Classic, Moon and Stars?, the Dresdner Kapellsolisten, conducted by Helmut Branny, will be of ering a multi-faceted programme ranging from Telemann to Mahler. ?Bach on Air? will star on Saturday the legendary Jan Garbarek Group and on Sunday singer Jocelyn B. Smith, whose music is a symbiosis of jazz, soul and world music with classical motifs. But the music ensembles from Leipzig will not be left on the sidelines ? the a-capella Festival 2011 will be casting its shadow during the Bachfest already, when amarcord will be enchanting audiences with their vocal artistry. One special highpoint will be the appearances by Flying Steps, who will be performing their ?Flying Bach? programme in the open air specially for the Bachfest Leipzig.
