シンダートで焼肉と鍋を同時に楽しみます（写真で綴るラオスその139）

　東南アジアでは、焼肉と鍋を一緒に楽しむ料理がありますが、ラオスも例外ではありません。　独特の鍋を使用します。ちょっと見るとジンギスカンの焼き肉に使う鍋のように真ん中が盛り上がっています。低くなっている鍋の回りに出し汁を入れてここで野菜などを煮ます。　手元には、唐辛子、ライム、ニンニクなどのの薬味があり、野菜の酢漬けやピーナッツベースの唐辛子味噌ソースなどが置いてあります。　ラオスの人は、シンダートが大好きです。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Laos is a country of fishermen who can be seen with their nets in the cooler parts of the day, especially at sunrise and sunset. 今年の彼岸花は永く咲いていたような気がします

　今年の彼岸花は、例年より早くに咲き始めたような気がしました。例年ですと9月20日頃突然咲き始める様な気がしていましたが、道沿いの彼岸花の写真は2022年9月14日に撮ったもので、既にだいぶ咲いてます。彼岸の頃には咲き終わるのかなと思っていると、そのまま咲き続け、土手の斜面一面に咲いている彼岸花は、9月28日に撮ったものです。どちらの写真も荒川左岸、秋ヶ瀬橋の近くで撮ったものです。　Higannbana or equinox flower this year seem to have begun to blow earlier and kept blossoms longer than usual. タイ東北部に侵攻したラオス軍は、女性とお酒の誘惑に勝てなかった（写真で綴るラオスその138）

　写真は、タイのナコンラチャーシマ（コラートとも呼ばれている）にあるスラナリさん（モーおばさんとも呼ばれている）の銅像前の景色です。1826年にラオス軍がコラートを襲撃し手中に収めた時、スラナリさんは、ラオス兵に酒を飲ませ、酔っぱらったラオス兵を撃退したということで、タイの英雄です。今日も、スラナリさんを慕うタイの人々が花を手向けに来ています。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Thao Suranari, also known as Lady Mo, is famous for the bravery she displayed against an invading army of Laos soldiers. ラオスの未来を担う女子生徒たち（写真で綴るラオスその137）

　写真は、2010年1月21日に、ヴィエンチャンの街から６０ｋｍほど東にある、小・中学校で撮ったものです。　丁度昼休みに訪問したので、生徒たちが外で遊んでいます。　ちょっと教室をのぞいてみたら、生徒たちが集まってきました。　ラオスの将来を担う頼もしい子供たちです。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Lao PDR still has some of the poorest education indicators in Southeast Asia. The high repetition and dropout rates in primary grades are strongly influenced by the limited access to quality Early Childhood Education opportunities.　　Quality of primary education is another major concern. ベトナム人があたりめを焼いてくれます in ラオス（写真で綴るラオスその136）

　写真は、2009年12月31日にビエンチャンで撮ったものです。メコン川沿いの屋台で蒸した魚などを頼んで食べていると、足元に、七輪を持った女性がやってきました。スルメを持っていて、その場であたりめを作ってくれます。この女性は、ベトナム人で、こうして屋台を渡り歩いて、あたりめを焼く行商を行っているとのことで、屋台の人ではありません。　ラオスにいると、ベトナム人の勤勉さが目につきます。ベトナム人が経営しているお店はあちこちにあります。荒物・金物をオートバイに乗せて売りっている人もベトナム人ですし、籐の籠などを売り歩いている人もベトナム人です。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　When Laos was a French protectorate, the French colonial administration brought many Vietnamese people to Laos to work as civil servants. ナムコーンビールがラオスに存在していたことをすっかり忘れていました（写真で綴るラオスその136）

ビエンチャンでは雨安居明けにボートレース祭を行います（写真で綴るラオスその134）

ビエンチャン市内の湿地帯（写真で綴るラオスその133）

　写真は、2009年12月26日に撮ったもので、街の中心部から黄金の寺院タートルアンを通り越してさらに東に進んだあたりの景色です。　湿地帯があり、水草が生え、魚がいて、ビエンチャンの汚水は、ここで自然の力によって浄化されていました。この辺りもだいぶ開発されると聞いていますが、自然が破壊されていないことを期待します。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　That Luang Lake SEZ is a new urban area in Vientiane designated as a special economic zone. ラオスのクレープ料理（写真で綴るラオスその132）

　ビエンチャンの中心部にクレープ料理レストランがあります。　写真は、2009年12月14日に撮ったもので、サラダエキゾチックとルアンパバン風クレープです。そば粉から作ったクレープの中に、主食を挟み込みます。ルアンパバン名物のソーセージがクレープの中に挟まっています。　フランスの味とラオスの味が融合していて、とても幸せな気分になりました。 (未確認ですが、このレストランは、今は、営業していない可能性があります。）【Bon appétit !】　The company invested over LAK 10 billion renovating the area in 2009, resulting in its reopening to the public in 2012 as Mix Restaurant, according to KPL.　Nam Phou Fountain then rebranded from Mix Restaurant to Nam Phou Park in 2017, becoming a commercial venue hosting several restaurants and entertainment venues.　However, the concession on the Nam Phou Fountain area has remained unpopular with the public, while the owners of the original set of restaurants in the area claim the development has been detrimental to their businesses.　（https://laotiantimes.com/2022/07/14/vientianes-iconic-nam-phou-fountain-to-be-returned-to-the-public/）

様々な種類の麵が楽しめます in ラオス（写真で綴るラオスその131）

　赤い色のスープでわかりにくいですが、麺の色は中華麺のような黄色です。そこに、餃子が入っています。辛味と酸味が混ざったとても美味しラーメンでミーキャオトムヤムと云います。　白いうどんのような麺は、カオピヤックセンという米粉・タピオカ粉麺です。毎日のように食べる機会があります。鳥スープで、トッピングに鶏肉や豚肉が乗っています。麺の太さやスープのトロトロ度合いは店によって特色があります。　なんとなく半透明の米粉麺は、フ―です。生煮えの牛肉がトッピングのこともあります。あっさりしたスープが特徴です。　このほかにもまだまだたくさんの種類の麵があります。　ラオスで麺類を頼むと、ミントやバジルの香草類、サラダ菜、もやし、ライムがてんこ盛りで付いてきます。これらをお好みで麺に乗せます。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Khao piak sen is a traditional Lao noodle soup that is commonly served for breakfast. 闘鶏はあちこちで行われています。（写真で綴るラオスその130）

　　鶏を手に持って歩いている人を時々見かけます。闘鶏用の鶏です。ラオス人の男性陣は、賭け事や酒を飲むことが概して好きです。道端で、良く王冠や駒を使ったゲームをしています。ビアラオを飲んで大声で人と話すことは日常です。東南アジアでよく見かける闘鶏も盛んです。多くの人が闘鶏を見ながら興奮しています。　写真は、2009年11月6日に、ビエンチャン郊外で撮ったものです。（続く）（続く）

ラオスの豚肉の煮込み料理カオカームー（写真で綴るラオスその129）

　赤い焼き豚肉をご飯の上に乗せた写真は、赤い叉焼のぶっかけご飯カオムーデーンです。残りの2枚は、カオカームーです。　カオカームーは、煮込んだ豚の足肉をご飯の上に乗せたものです。ぐつぐつ、ほろほろに煮込んでいます。甘じょっぱい味付で、日本人の口にもよく合います。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Laotian dishes are one of the best-kept secrets of South East Asia. 梛（なぎ）の葉

　写真は、川口市の東沼神社の拝殿前に植えられている梛の木の写真です。梛の葉は、今では、北条政子と源頼朝の愛のお守りということで知られていますが、本来は、熊野の神様が初めて降臨された神倉山、神倉神社を神域とする熊野速玉大社のご神木として知られています。　椰の葉は、横に裂けないことから愛のお守りとして、また、家族平穏のお守りとして功徳があるといわれています。　The photo shows the Nagi tree at Tosho Shrine in Kawaguchi city. They say that Hojo Masako kept Nagi leaf hoping for everlasting love with Minamoto Yoritomo. 【Bon appétit !】　Kumano Hayatama Taisha Grand Shrine is said to have been built as a place to worship the gods who had descended to earth on Gotobiki-iwa Rock in Kamikura-Jinja Shrine. 金色のポストがありました

寺原ゆめみ、秋葉みらいって誰？

　電車が取手駅に停車すると、隣のホームに気動車が停まっています。車体に、寺原ゆめみ、秋葉みらいの二人の名前が書かれています。寺原ゆめみ、秋葉みらいって誰だ！さらによく見ると、「鉄道むすめ」の文字。結局何のことかわからずに、電車は、取手駅を出発しました。【Bon appétit !】　The round-trip ticket connects the Tsukuba Express with the Kanto Railway Joso Line. ラオスの豆乳、トウモロコシジュース（写真で綴るラオスその127）

　ビィエンチャンの街中を歩いていると黄色やオレンジ、緑色の飲み物を売っている屋台があり、びっくりです。初めて見たときは、色水という感じで、人工的に色を付けた飲物かと思っていしまいました。　写真は、2007年9月6日に、ビエンチャンで撮ったものです。　黄色い色のついた水は、私のお気に入りです。これはトウモロコシのジュースです。スイートコーンの液体を絞り出したような味です。甘みがあり、とても美味しい飲み物です。　豆乳を売っている屋台もあちこちにあります。屋台でジョッキに入っている暖かい豆乳を飲むと幸せを感じます。持ち帰り用に豆乳をビニール袋に入れてもらっている人も多くいます。　色付き水を売っている屋台には、いろいろな色の水があります。緑色の液体は、薬草だそうです。寒天のようなものも入っていてこれも薬草から作られているそうです。ほかの色の水も、どれも自然の果物、根菜類等植物由来の飲物だそうです。（続く）

ラオスの焼豚（ムーデーン）（写真で綴るラオスその126）

　ビエンチャンでは、店先に、焼いた豚肉が釣り下がっている店を見かけます。　チャーハンの写真は、2008年4月に撮ったもので、カオパットムーデーンという料理です。写真ではわかりにくいのですが、赤い色の焼豚がチャーハンの具として使用されています。　ご飯の上に焼豚が載っている写真は、2009年5月に撮ったもので、カオムーデーンという料理です。焼豚は、表面がカリカリしていて、甘いたれがかかっていてなかなか美味です。　ムーデーンは直訳すると赤い豚肉になります。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　I ordered a hearty plate of khao moo daeng, red pork on rice. マコモダケを開いて干しています（写真で綴るラオスその125）

　写真は、ビエンチャンのタラートクワディンの道端で、タケノコの様なものを開いて干している光景です。これはタケノコのように見えますが、本当はイネ科の多年草のマコモダケです。他の東南アジアの国々同様、マコモダケは、ラオスでは身近で、よく食べています。タケノコと思って食べていることも多くあります。　マコモは、さながら巨大な稲という感じのものです。草の写っている写真は、マコモです。これは、千葉県手賀沼近くの田んぼで栽培されていたものです。この草の根元に出来る肥大した茎の部分がマコモダケになります。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　The staple food of the Lao is sticky rice. 東洋文庫ミュージアム「日本語の歴史展」

　駒込にある東洋文庫ミュージアムを訪問しました。　モリソン書庫の壮観な様子には圧倒されました。巨大な本棚に、歴史を刻んできた貴重な書籍や絵画が並んでいます。　博物館では、「日本語の歴史展」が行われていました。チラシには、次のように書かれていました。　「私たちが普段あたり前のように使っている日本語。その日本語とは、どのような特徴をもっている言語なのでしょうか。時代による変化はあるのでしょうか。この展覧会では、日本語の発展の流れ、その他の言語との関係など、日本語への理解をさらに深めるための様々なトピックを、東洋文庫所蔵の貴重な言語資料、歴史資料によってひもときます。　あらためて目を向けてみると、日本語にまつわる不思議と「なるほど」がたくさん見つかります。一緒に探しに行きましょう！」　I visited Toyo Bunko Museum, or The Oriental Library Museum, for the first time in my life. You can explore history through lots of materials such as wood block prints, drawings and maps form old books.　The Morrison Library astonished me with multiple levels of floor-to-ceiling bookcases and display cases showing off some of its treasures.【Bon appétit !】　This gorgeous museum is attached to Toyo Bunko, which is Japan's largest Asian Studies library with holdings of more than one million books. ラオスの朝食はおかゆにするかベトナム風蒸し春巻きにするか悩みます（写真で綴るラオスその124）

　写真は2007-2009年に撮ったものです。　私のビエンチャンでの朝は、お粥屋さんでお粥（カオピヤックカオ）を食べることから始まります。時々、ベトナム風蒸し春巻き（バングアン）なども食べました。　バングアンは、糯米粉を溶いて火にかけ、湯葉のように汲み上げた薄い皮に野菜やひき肉を入れて巻きます。甘いたれをつけて食べます。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Khao piak khao is a thick Laotian rice soup that is traditionally served for breakfast. 村の子供たち、木陰で休む山羊たち in ラオス（写真で綴るラオスその123）

　写真は、2009年8月20日に、ラオスはサワナケート県の村を訪問した時に撮ったものです。　高床式家屋の床下で、小さな子をおもりしている子供たちがいました。池のほとりで手作りの舟を浮かべて遊んでいる子供たちがいました。道を歩いて来た山羊たちがあまりの暑さに、日陰の所で休み始めました。（続く）【Bon appétit !】　Poverty is widespread in Laos, and is especially severe for children from ethnic minorities living in rural areas.
