I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and awesome new years! I was meaning to write for a very long time, but we have been busy. So I will tell you what I have been up to :) Anyway I can't even remember what I wrote in my last mail. I am guessing it was maybe 2 weeks before Christmas? Meh, anyway, during that time I have done a few interesting things, so lets start off with Christmas and shopping. Me and Anna went to Berlin, and spent a whole day Christmas shopping. It took ages but we had to buy for her aunt and uncle, mum and dad, her brother, and for ourselves. So you can see how many bags I had to carry around :) But it was really nice, for lunch we went to a Japanese sushi place. Anna loves sushi! It's good for me I guess :D After half time, we had bought half our things, but we were so tired. So we decided to do the shopping as quickly as possible and spend the rest of the afternoon in the movies! We went and watched Marie Antoinette, with Kirsten Dunst. It was pretty good, like a typical girl movie heheh!! We bought a massive pop corn with sugar, and a liter of coke :D And that was the "medium size ". When we got out of the movies, it was already dark, I think it was like 9pm, so we rushed off to the train station, but we just missed our train and had to wait for another hour! It was crazy. So we sat in Burger King, and gathered all our loose change together and bought 2 cheese burgers and a coke. It was really nice just sitting in BK talking about what we are going to do for Christmas and new years :). After our little wait, we got on the train and it took us 2 hours to get back home. That was our day shopping in Berlin. Christmas arrived sooner than I though. I remember getting all our bags together to stay at her parent's house for a week. Anna had to try and get time off work, because they made her work on the 23rd until 2am! We got home after a nice drive, crossing the border between Germany and Poland. This year it still hasn't snowed, and its way warmer than last year. Kind of strange. When we got there her parents welcomed us, it had only been a week since we last saw them, but they always welcome us with a hug :D Last time I went back her dad took me out trap shooting in the forest. I can't believe he trusted me a gun so early :) well I didn't shoot anyone so that was good :) I did manage to shoot most of the clay birds :D Must be from all them computer games lol. Anyway we also made a huge fire at the back of her house, and cooked sausages on a stick all night, it was really nice! Best sausages ever! I dropped mine in the fire after sizzling it for 5 long minutes. I was quite pissed off.... Oh yea, Christmas, so all her family members came together the next day. The tree was already up and decorated. In Europe they don't put the prizes under the tree. They put it under the tree like 5 min before it gets shredded to bits. They were quite surprised when I told them that we leave our presents under the tree a couple of days prior to Christmas. Exchanging culture is a funny thing :) Before dinner, it is polish tradition to break a small rice cracker with everyone at the table one by one and wish each individual with something for next year. It was quite hard trying to explain them in English but I think they got what I meant. So from here began the 3 day eating marathon, where we only leave the table for going to the toilet or when you are going to bed. We sat and consumed kilograms of delicious meals, on the 24th we are not allowed to eat meat, so a selection of fish and vegetarian dishes were served. Also an interesting salad with mayo, pineapple, celery, corn, apples and cheese, but it was dam good! After dinner we bought down the presents and handed it to everyone and all opened up at the same time :D Magical time everyone was so happy with their gifts. I got a few things that will come in really handy for my landscaping next year :) It was great! We then all had to go to church, and sing polish hymns, I kind of sat there singing the lyrics to the backstreet boys, Ha Ha :D We then went home and went to sleep.A wonderful Christmas once again! Next couple of days, we sat and talked, it was hard for me to try and understand what the people were saying, but Anna was a champion at translating what they were saying. But I think this time I have learnt a lot more. I can understand some of the words they use and guess what they are saying, 80% of the time I get it right :D Amazing. lol. Straight after Christmas, we had to get ready to leave to a big polish city called Krakow (Cracov), its famous for its arts and culture, its the only big city in Poland where the Nazi's didn't get to and is still kept in original condition, it reminded me a lot about Prague. So we traveled 8 hours on a polish train. Traveling towards the south, we left at 5am and got there around 2pm, checked into our hostel around 3pm :) The city was huge! Big olden buildings surrounded by couple of hundred thousand polish people. This was the biggest polish city I have ever been to, it was amazing. The town was divided into 2 sections, a Jewish town and old town, and in the middle a huge Polish castle, it's always crazy to see a castle. I only see it in movies, and when you are there you realize how big they are. I wish NZ had castles. I would like to live in one :D~So we spend 4 days there, arrived on 30th and left on 2nd. In that time we spend close to 700 dollars NZ, including train and accommodation. I think it's pretty good:) For new years, we gathered around the town square, and watched a concert, was pretty cool listening to polish music :D we were gonna hit a club, but entry was 100 bucks each D: so we gave that a pass, we got some bubbly and counted down new years and watched the fire works go off :D was really nice. Anyway, so now I am back at Germany, we have already planned our next trip, we are going to Barcelona, Spain at the end of January and going to stay for 3 nights with me Anna and her brother :) should be a little warmer, but nothing compared to the weather you guys are having. Anyway, I hope you guys can get back to me, let me know what you all up to! I better stop here before I end up writing an essay! See ya!
