July 1st --- July 14th

July 1st, Sunday, I went to Japan Filter Technology, Tagawa Plant
as usual to teach English to its workers.
This company is a subsidiary of Japan Tabaco (knows as JT).

I ask my student(s) to drive me there especially when it rains.
I have had a contract with them to teach English for a year.

This company has a very friendly atmosphere and I feel very comfortable
while teaching.

July 2nd --- July 4th

I joined Trading (BOEKI) Seminar by Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce
and Industry for three days.

Since I worked for good trading firms based in Osaka for several
years up to over 10 years ago, I know basics of overseas trading.
However, I wanted to join this seminar to confirm my expertise
and learn something new.
I paid 10,000 yen for joining this seminar and also paid another
10,000 yen for my student who also joined this seminar following my
advice.

The whole seminar was very inspiring and interesting to me.
There were some new fundamental things I learned.

I don't know how much this seminar was valuable to the student,
but I know this student will appreciate the seminar later in the future.

Learning lots of things there, I have prepared myself for coaching
Japanese companies how to have better business dealings with overseas ones.

* New Fellow Translator

From July 1st on, I have another fellow translator who works with me.
This person quit working at a local hotel at the end of June and
starts her career as a translator which this person has wanted to
be for many years, I heard.

Now I feel great responsibilities for this new translator as well
as my current fellow translators.

*July 7th

It was a rainy day.
So I asked the above student to kindly drive me to Shonai
where one of my students lives.
I always go to her place when I have an English lesson.

This student is a third year student at Kaho High School.
She sometimes demonstrates her skills in piano and karate.

She is an excellent karate athlete and wonderful pianist, plus
she has a splendid motor nerves(運動神経）.

My comment might cause you somewhat misunderstanding, but
I love this kind of student, because she is very comfortable to be with.
I don't have to be nervous with her.
She is very pure, straightforward and calls a spade a spade.
Since she wants to work internationally, she will be able to
achieve her dream, I am sure.
Her character is suitable for working at international scenes.

The fellow translator I was with also finished Kaho High School
and went through its very severe study for entrance exams to
universities, so I asked both of the karate girl and the translator
to exchange opinions about how to study more effectively and
efficiently.

While listening to the kind advice from the translator,
the karate girl burst into tears, which surprised us very much.
She said that she was very nervous about her own exams
and future and didn't know how to study many subject at the same
time efficiently. By weeping, this girl must have released herself
and became more relaxed, I suppose.

July 9th ---13th

This week I focused on taking my new fellow translator
to some of my customers which I wanted to introduce to her
as her customers.

*July 11th

I held a seminar at SOHO Support Center on how to write an essay in a logical way.
I had three people at my seminar. One of them is from a company I work for
as their translator.

After that seminar, my fellow translator and I went to one of my customers
which is in front of KBC TV. This company produces many TV and Radio
music programs.
They have a big project now and then they seemingly would like to ask me
to do interpreting for overseas musicians when they come to Fukuoka.
I am very glad to hear this offer.

After visiting this company, we met another customer.
He requested us to translate some documents and so
I asked the translator to be in charge of this.

* July 12th

I also took my fellow translator to two of my customers.
One of them is named 久原本家 in Hisayama. They are over 100-years old
company in the food industry. Their products are very famous.
Since my new fellow translator is interested in translation in the field of
other food & culinary arts, I introduced this company to her.
They sometimes asked me to translate food related documents,
menus, recipes, etc.

After that, we went to another company to introduce this translator.


*July 13th
This day, my fellow translator and I visited two news paper companies
to request them to write an article about our new translation service.

In the evening, I had a shogi lesson with an elementary school student.

* July 14th

Since the typhoon was approaching and then hit Kyushu,
we had a bad weather. However, here in Iizuka, it wasn't so
stormy as in other areas.

I had to cancel lessons this day and spent the whole day
doing tensaku. I finished all of tensaku at last.
