I teach shogi to two children. Free of charge, of course.
Both're 5th graders.
Two weeks ago, I took one of them, Koga-kun to a big shogi competition held by
Japan Tobacco(JT). It was an annual large-scale shogi competition held in Fukuoka.
Koga-kun joined this competition last year but he marked no wins then.
More than 400 elementary schoolers joined this. I found an American father among
their parents.
I talked a lot with him about his children who also joined this competition.
Koga-kun won the 1st game, and I was so happy. But he lost the 2nd & 3rd games.
Koga-kun had his second game with the son of the American father.
Even though Koga-kun failed to make it in his preliminary matches and advance to the final selection, he had a great time.[ken]
