Hi, Im Maco Yosioka, the founder and the CEO of MadreBonita.
I will talk about a little bit of myself and our new project Madre Fund.
We launched Madre Fund at the beginning of 2011. We asked our friends for donations to cover the costs of our fitness class fee so that "high risk" mothers can take the classes for free.
"High risk mother" here includes single mothers, teenage mothers, mothers of twins and so on.
I myself have been a single mother for 13 years. And I've been through all possible hardships about being a single mother like fighting against prejudices and discriminations, economic difficulties, too heavy burden of childcare to shoulder alone, pressures and loneliness, underdog feelings, and sense of loss.
And being a single mother is also being a minority. Being a minority is not always easy. (You know that.) I know from my experience it can easily deprive of your self-esteem and room to breath & relax.
I still don't know the best solution for that, but there are a few things I learned from my experience being a minority.
First and foremost physical fitness is essential to survive this tough world. And then comes communication and interaction with others. Sometimes you need to trust and rely on somebody. It is better to talk witn people than being confined to your shell or hide behind the wall.
※be confined to your shell (殻にこもる)
I am proud to announce that Madrebonita’s programm provides all these things, physical fitness and communication.
So I want as many as singlemothers to take our programme.
I hope MadreFund will help.
