Bruichladdich 3D
9月にパリで行なわれたウイスキー・ライヴで発表された『Bruichladdich 3D -The Peat Proposal-』について書こうかと思うが、あちこちで話題になっているのですでにご存じの方も多いと思う。これはポート・シャーロットとブルイックラディとをヴァッティングした、“シングル・モルト”である。もしかしたら、アイル・オブ・ジュラのスーパースティションあたりからヒントを得て企画された商品なのだろうか? 近年はモルトのヘヴィリー・ピーテッド化が流行しているようだが、この傾向は来年も続きそうである。この『3D』だが、3種類のまったく違ったキャラクターの原酒がヴァッティングされ、ノンチルフィルタリングで46%に希釈されてある。それぞれの配分比率は未公表なのだが、その3種類とは● Bruichladdich: 1989, 15 yo, 5 ppm, refill sherry cask● Bruichladdich: 1998, 6 yo, 25 ppm, refill bourbon cask● Port Charlotte: 2001, 3 yo, 40 ppm, 1st-fill bourbon caskである。すなわち、このモルトは3年物なのだ。実はまだ飲んでいないのだが、風味は何となく想像できる(笑)。なおパリのウイスキー・ライヴでは、1989はフェノール値が8 ppmと公表されていたようだが、現在は5 ppmに修正されている。
