さっき、ネットでこんな記事を目にした。
「「うさんぽ」はやってます」というタイトルの記事。
ここ数年ペットブームのこのご時世。
みんながみんな住居の環境上、飼いたくても犬や猫を飼える
わけではありません。
この記事を読んでいると、最近うさぎを飼うのが急上昇中なのは
犬や猫が飼えない人がうさぎなら飼いやすいと思い込んでいること。
おまけにうさんぽもできて、一躍注目の的になれるからということ。
しかし、うさぎを実際飼っている私からするえば、この記事を読んで
すごく腹が立った。何も知らずにこの記事を読んだ人は犬や猫に比べて、世話要らずで
うさぎは飼いやすいと思うだろう。
しかし、実際にうさぎと生活をし始めると全然違う。
個体差や種類によっても人に懐く程度も違うし、なによりも知れば知るほど
奥深い動物なので、世話も案外大変だ。
ちょっとした寒暖の差や飼い主の油断が命取りにだってなる。
結局世話がしきれなくなったり、飼うことに飽きたら
たいてい捨てられてしまうというケースが悲しいことに後を絶たない。
うさぎブームなのかも知れないが、一時のブームに便乗して、
小さな命を
粗末にだけはして欲しくない。
本当にうさぎを飼うのであれば最後まで愛情と責任を持って
一緒に暮らしていって欲しいと同じうさぎ飼いとして、切に願います。

I just read on the internet about an article about
"Taking a rabbit out for a walk is becoming this year's boom."
It's been a pet boom years for the past several years.
I understand that not everyone can have a dog or a cat of one's own,
due to one's living environment.
As I was reading through this article, I got very upset
because I live with a rabbit, too.
It was saying how it's so much easier to have a pet rabbit
than dogs or cats.
And that was the reason why pet rabbits are becoming popular these days.
It also said that one can be popular by taking one's rabbit out for a walk, too.
I'm sure that, if anyone without any knowledge about living with a rabbit
read this article, one will probably think that it'll be easy to have
and live with a pet rabbit compared to dogs and cats.
But living with a rabbit myself, that's not true at all.
Depending on the character of the rabbit itself and a kind of rabbit,
it may not always be obedient to the owner.
It is a very deep and mysterious anima, too.
It's not very easy to take care of as you all think.
And the rapid changes of temperatures and the owner's misunderstandings
can be a reason for the death of a rabbit, too.
As a result, after one may not be able to take care of it or
loses intrests in taking care of it, one just throws it away.
And I hear these kinds of stories very often and endlessly.
It may be one of the biggest coming boom now, but please take a minute
to think that it is "a life",too.
And I don't want anyone wasting any life at all either.
If one really wants to live with a rabbit, please take care of it
with lots of love and responsibilities until the very last day.
