Aso intends to ban watari practice in '09

Prime Minister Taro Aso expressed his intention Tuesday to create

an ordinance to ban by the end of the year the so-called watari practice

in which ministries and agencies arrange multiple times for retired

government officials to assume posts at entities related to the

sectors they formerly supervised.

(麻生太郎首相は火曜日、今年末までにいわゆる「わたり」（退職した国家公務員に対して彼らの所属省庁が、退職前の監督部門の関連団体への役職を数回にわたり用意する慣行）
