  お母さんの足に抱きつく in 東ティモール

  足にしがみつく子供↑（2014年6月1日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　自転車で山道を下っていたら、小さな子供がそろそろとあちらからやって来ます。　変な人が山道を下ってきたので、見に来たようです。　私が近づくにつれて、子供は立ち止まってしまいました。　と思う間もなく、走って行ってお母さんの足にしがみついてしまいました。　そんなに怖い人に見えるのかなぁと思いながら脇を通り過ぎようとすると、じっとこちらを見ています。　興味があるようです。　自転車を停めて近づくとお母さんの足にしがみついて泣きそうになってしまいました。　トラウマにならなければいいのですが…。【Bon appétit !】　The education system of Timor-Leste was destroyed during the conflict to achieve independence from Indonesia.　Eight years after gaining independence, many schools still lack the necessary infrastructure. 　Average class sizes in Timor-Leste are 62 students to only one teacher.   籠を背負って山へ in 東ティモール

  これから山へ出発↑（2014年6月1日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　山道を自転車で下っていたら、高齢の女性に声をかけられました。　籠を背負っていて、今から山に行くようです。　「写真を撮ってほしい」と言っているようです。　自転車を停めて近づくと、旦那の所へ寄っていて、籠を背中からおろしてポーズを撮ります。　旦那さんは、俺はいいよと言っているような雰囲気ですが、一緒に写真に入ります。　娘さんも家から籠を持って出て来ました。　お母さんと一緒に山に向かいます。　いったい何が取れるのでしょう。【Bon appétit !】　Despite the advances made over, malnutrition among children under 5 years of age remains a public health problem in Timor-Leste. 　In this regard, the Ministry of Health continues to work with other relevant sectors such as agriculture, commerce and industry in order to continue the development of a Strategic Plan to Fight Against Malnutrition in Timor-Leste, and whose focus requires multisectoral interventions, under the Declaration of Comoro 2010.（http://timor-leste.gov.tl/?p=9523&lang=en）

  入出国の繰り返しはご法度?? in タイ

  手前はタイ、向こうはラオス↑　5月末に、在タイ日本大使館からタイ入国に関する注意が出ていると聞きました。　在タイの方は、既にご存じのことでしょうが、遅ればせながら、驚いています。　注意の内容は、「現在、タイ国では日本、米国等の一部の国籍者に対して、入国目的が観光である場合に限りビザ免除で３０日の滞在を許可しています。タイ国入国管理局では、最近ビザ免除措置を使い出入国を繰り返し実際上長期滞在を行っているケースが増加しているため、その取り締まりの強化を決定した模様です。以前から、陸路国境にて出国同日に入国を試み、タイへの入国を拒否されたとの情報もありますので、観光目的以外でタイへの渡航を予定されている場合は、目的に合ったビザを取得するようご留意ください。」というものです。　ラオスでは、ラオスに居住していてラオス国籍のないの日本人の中に15日ごとに国境を超えてはラオスへ再入国している人がいますので、このような取り締まりがラオスで行われるとしたらちょっと混乱するような気がします。　タイの場合は、それほど問題ないのでしょうか、少々心配になりました。【Bon appétit !】　A tourist visa is a stamp or document needed so you can stay in Thailand for a specific period of time, on the purpose of tourism. 　It is stamped on your passport upon arrival at the airport in Thailand, or it can be obtained in your home country through the Thai embassy or consulate located there. 　The tourist visa can also be extended if necessary. 　There are certain countries who made agreements with the government of Thailand so their citizens can benefit from the visa exemption when entering Thailand as tourists.（http://www.thaiembassy.com/thailand/thailand-tourist-visa.php）

  日傘deバナナ in 東ティモール

  バナナの葉の日傘↑（2014年6月1日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　山道を自転車で下っています。　向こうから2人の子どもが道路を登って来ます。　頭の上に大きな葉っぱをかざしています。　日傘です。　東ティモールでは、2014年は６月21日が冬至です。　これから太陽が最も遠くへ移動し、太陽光線が最も弱い季節となります。　それでも相当強烈な直射日光です。　子供でさえ、日陰を探して遊んだり移動したりします。　バナナの葉は大きいので、日除けにはもってこいなのかもしれません。【Bon appétit !】　The summer solstice（夏至）occurs when the tilt（傾き）of a planet's semi-axis（半軸）, in either the northern or the southern hemisphere, is most inclined toward the star (sun) that it orbits.　The summer solstice occurs during a hemisphere's summer. 　This is northern solstice in the northern hemisphere and the southern solstice in the southern hemisphere. 　Depending on the shift of the calendar, the summer solstice occurs some time between December 20 and December 23 each year in the southern hemisphere and between June 20 and June 22 in the northern hemisphere.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_solstice)

  今日は何の日??? in 東ティモール

  パレ―ド↑（2014年5月31日、ディリ、東ティモール）　自転車で街の中を移動していたら、3つのイベントと出会いました。　今日は、何か特別の日なのでしょうか ?　1つ目は、商工環境省主催のナショナルフェアが、海岸近くの公園で行われていました。地域の産品を使った食品加工製品や手工芸品、タイスと呼ばれる伝統織物などを各地のグループが持ち寄って出店しています。　2つ目は、バザールインドネシア2014で、インドネシアの衣類等の出店やインドネシア料理の屋台などが出ています。　3つ目は、道路上のパレードで、中世の衣装を身に着けた人々や鼓笛隊が道路をパレードしていました。　今日は何の日だったのでしょうか ?　良くわからず不明なままです。【Bon appétit !】　Portugal invested little in Timor, and withdrew unilaterally in 1975 after deciding to dissolve its colonial empire.　Indonesia invaded within days of the Timorese declaration of independence, and used force to crush popular resistance.　Major world and regional powers did little to counter Indonesian rule, which was not recognised by the UN.   幸せ親子 in 東ティモール

  棚田の苗代 in 東ティモール

  棚田の苗代↑（2014年5月28日、ビケケ県、東ティモール）　だんだん田んぼが目の前に広がっています。　まだ、水を張っているだけで田植えは行われていません。　苗代があります。　苗も大きくなっていて、いつでも田植えができそうな感じです。　棚田全体に田植えが行われれば、とても奇麗な棚田が現れることでしょう。　棚田百選に選ばれそうな景色です。【Bon appétit !】　Harvesting of the 2013 main paddy crop was co mpleted in July, while that of secondary off season crop was finalised by December. 　Official estimates indicate a sharp reduction in the area planted to rice from last year’s record level. 　According to remote sensing data, rainfall was generally average to above average during the growing season (Novermber-April) over large parts of the country, leading to good vegetative growing conditions. 　However, heavy downpours in June and July resulted in localised flooding and landslides causing crop damage and severe reduction in yields particulalry in parts of producing areas of Ainaro, Baucau, Cocalima and Viqueque districts. 　As a result, latest official forecast point to a 2013 aggregate rice paddy production (the main and off season), of about 87 332 tonnes, some 38 percent below last year’s record crop. （http://www.fao.org/giews/countrybrief/country.jsp?code=TLS）

  とても小さな焼き魚 in 東ティモール

  焼き魚↑（2014年5月28日、マナツト県、東ティモール）　お昼に焼き魚屋さんへ行きました。　目の前で魚を焼くのではなく、既に焼いたものが置いてあります。　大きな焼き魚と小さな焼き魚がありました。　大きな焼き魚は、1尾しか残っていなかったので小さな焼き魚を1人4尾ずつ食べることにします。　小さいので、すぐに一尾食べ終わってしまいます。　香ばしく焼かれているのでそれなりに美味しいのですが、焼きたてならばもっともっと美味しいのではないかと思いました。　冷蔵施設が無く保存が効かないために、魚が揚がるとすぐに焼いてしまうのではないかと思います。　ここは、東ティモールの首都ディリから国道一号線を55ｋｍ程東へ行った海沿いの村です。　焼き魚を食べさせる店が道の両側に10軒ほど並んでいます。　どの店も、焼き魚とうるち米を使ったチマキの様なご飯を出します。　他の店も見比べると面白かったのですが、初めに入った店で食べてしまったので、他の店と見比べることができませんでしたが、どの店も同じで、特色はないという話でした。　飲み物はぬるい缶ジュースと水だけで、ビールは置いていないようです。　ここでビールを売れば大儲け確実です。【Bon appétit !】　The staple food in East Timor is rice. 　Commonly grown food crops include taro, cassava, sweet potatoes and maize. 　Beans, cabbage, cowpeas, onions, tomatoes and spinach are well-liked vegetables. 　People also rear poultry, goats and pigs. 　Fish forms an important part of the diet and acts as a supplement to any meal. 　Most traditional East Timorese recipes use a generous dose of spices. 　Mangoes, watermelons, papayas, bananas and coconuts are the most commonly cultivated fruits here. 　Carbohydrates like sago or other grains form the main dish for many a East Timorese meal. （http://wikitravel.org/en/East_Timor）

  レアル・マドリード優勝に沸く in 東ティモール

  レアル・マドリードの旗を持つ子供↑（2014年5月25日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　子供たちが、レアル・マドリードの旗を持って興奮冷めやらぬ様子です。　昨日のチャンピオンズリーグの優勝を聞いて、朝から子供たちが通りで騒いでいます。　東ティモールはサッカーの人気が高く、今朝も、6時過ぎにレストランへ行ったら、いつも暗いレストランに煌煌と明かりが灯っていて、何人もの人がテレビを見ていました。　東ティモールのサッカーはこれからの段階ですが、ユースはアジア大会でも優勝の経験があるほどの実力を有しています。【Bon appétit !】　The Timor-Leste national football team is the national team of East Timor (Timor-Leste) and is controlled by the Federação de Futebol de Timor-Leste. 　They are currently one of the weakest teams in the world and the weakest team in the ASEAN region.   タイ人の訪日旅行者

  車内広告全てが訪日旅行の車両↑（2014年3月11日、エアポートレールリンク、バンコク）　戒厳令がしかれているタイへ今日の夜10時過ぎにバンコクに着く予定の私の知人がもうすぐ空港に着きます。　彼は、空港から空港リムジンでバンコクへ行くと言っていましたが、さて、空港のリムジンの運転手もやはり22時以降は外出禁止なのではないかと思いますがどうなのでしょう？　今日のブログは戒厳令とは関係なく、タイ人の訪日旅行者の数が増えているという話です。　5月7日付のバンコクポスト（http://news.nna.jp/free/news/20140507thb010A.html）によれば、2013年の訪日タイ人数は453,600人で前年比74%増、今年の3月には1ヶ月間で71,100人と単月過去最高、価格もどんどん下がっているということです。　同記事の中で、「タイ人は写真撮影、買い物で満足するので、ツアーを組みやすい。観光客は添乗員の話を聞くのは苦手なので添乗員は歴史的な知識を必要としない」と書かれていて面白いと思いました。　車内の広告すべてが訪日旅行の広告になっている電車もあり、訪日熱はまだ続きそうです。【Bon appétit !】　According to the Japan National Tourist Organization (JNTO), the number of international visitors to Japan in March 2014 was 1,051,000 (22.6% increase from March 2013). 　This was the highest number on a monthly basis next to July 2013 by 47,000.　Looking by the destination, the number of travelers from China maintained an upward trend for the seven straight months. 　Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam also increased firmly. 　Europe except England and Australia showed an increase as well.　On the other hand, number of travelers from Korea decreased for the second months running.（http://www.tourism.jp/en/statistics/）

  棚田百選 !?　in 東ティモール

  棚田の風景↑（2014年5月21日、バウカウ県、東ティモール）　斜面がテラスになって田んぼになっています。　棚田です。　とても懐かしい気持ちがします。　日本でも山間地に行くと、このような田んぼを見ることができました。　圃場整備の影響で次第に数は減って行きましたが、棚田を資源として保存している所もあります。　東ティモールにも美しい景色がたくさんあります。　棚田百選など選んでみるのも面白いかと思います。【Bon appétit !】　Agriculture is the main activity in Timor-Leste, providing subsistence to an estimated 80% of the population. 　It also generates an average of 90% of the exports, mainly due to coffee. 　Most farmers practice subsistence farming, planting and harvesting what they need for a simple life-style, collecting wild foods and traditional medicines, and the animals are very much left free to grow and reproduce. 　There are almost no large scale farms except for missions.   釣りする子供たち in 東ティモール

  釣りする子供たち↑（2014年5月21日、バウカウ県、東ティモール）　懐かしい風景につい見とれてしまいました。　東ティモールの風景も、日本も同じだなと思いました。　子どもたちが、釣り竿で魚を獲っています。　釣り針に、ミミズの餌をつけて、池に糸を垂らします。　紙で作った浮きを浮かべて、魚が餌に食いつくと浮きが動くようになっています。　次々と小鮒の様な魚が取れて、その都度歓声が上がります。　自分の子供のころを思い出して、つい懐かしくなりました。【Bon appétit !】　While in Dili you will need to confine yourself to a speed limit of 40 kph. On open roads you may rev up and touch 50-60 kph.   独立回復 in 東ティモール

  フレティリンの旗がはためく↑（2014年5月20日、ディリ、東ティモール）　街中が旗でいっぱいです。　今日は独立回復記念日。　2002年5月20日、東ティモールがインドネシア支配から解放されました。　1975年11月28日に、16世紀から続いたポルトガル支配から独立しましたが、すぐにインドネシアが制圧し、インドネシアに併合されました。　そのインドネシアから独立するかどうかを決める国民投票が1999年8月30日に行われ独立が決定しました。　インドネシアはこの結果を不満として破壊と住民の虐殺が行われました。　そのため国連東ティモール暫定行政機構が介入し、2002年の独立に至りました。　その独立を記念して、今日5月20日は独立回復記念日となっています。　国旗と当時の与党フレティリンの旗が街中に溢れています。【Bon appétit !】　East Timor was colonised by Portugal in the 16th century, and was known as Portuguese Timor until Portugal's decolonisation of the country. 　In late 1975, East Timor declared its independence but later that year was invaded and occupied by Indonesia and was declared Indonesia's 27th province the following year. 　In 1999, following the United Nations-sponsored act of self-determination, Indonesia relinquished control of the territory, and East Timor became the first new sovereign state of the 21st century on May 20, 2002.（http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Timor）

  吊るし売り in 東ティモール

  吊るし売り↑（2014年5月6日、ディリ、東ティモール）　横に伸びた木の枝から、たくさんの果物が吊るされています。　屋台の八百屋さんが、屋台のそばにある木の枝を利用して、売り物をディスプレイしています。　トマトやジャガイモを積み重ねタワーの様にして売る方法も良く見かけますが、吊り下げて売る方法もいたるところで見かけます。　吊り下げ方は、天秤棒から吊り下げて売る方法が一般的ですが、木の枝や軒先があれば、必ずそこから吊り下げて売っています。　どの店も同じようなディスプレイの方法で新規性がありませんが、面白い売り方をしている人を見つけるのを楽しみにして観察を続けたいと思います。【Bon appétit !】　Livestock production is almost totally managed by individual households, very few of which are specialist livestock raisers.   豚さんが通る in 東ティモール

  道路を横切る豚の親子↑（2014年5月17日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　目の前の道路を豚の親子が横切っています。　東ティモールでは、良くある光景です。　不思議なのは、豚が自由に歩き回っていることです。　犬と同じ様に、豚は飼い主のもとに帰るのでしょうか？　全くの放し飼い状態が常態の東ティモールです。【Bon appétit !】　Domesticated pigs, called swine, are raised commercially for meat (generally called pork, hams, gammon（燻製）or bacon), as well as for leather. Their bristly（剛毛質の）hairs are also used for brushes. Due to their common use as livestock, adult swine have gender specific names: the males are boars (or sometimes "hogs") and the females are sows. Young swine are called piglets or pigs. Pork is one of the most popular forms of meat for human consumption, accounting for 38% of worldwide meat production. 　Pigs that are allowed to forage（あさる、食べ物を探しまわる）may be watched by swineherds.   あぁ Mie Sedaap の看板が in 東ティモール

  突然のまずい天ぷら in 東ティモール

  天ぷら弁当↑（2014年5月13日、ディリ、東ティモール）　私は、この店の天丼が気に入っていて、時々、天丼を食べにこの店に来ます。　東ティモールの首都ディリにある2軒の日本料理店のうちの1軒です。　この日は、天丼では量が多いかなと思い、初めて天ぷら弁当を頼んでみました。　暫くして出てきました。　見た目、何となく美味しそうでない予感がしました。　さてどうでしょうか…。　予感的中です。　天ぷらそのものも天つゆにつけても全く美味しくなく、揚げだし豆腐も全く駄目です。　美味しくないというより、全く味がないという方が適切かもしれません。　驚きの天ぷら弁当でした。　この日だけの例外であることを期待します。【Bon appétit !】　A light batter is made of cold water (sometimes sparkling water is used to keep the batter light) and soft wheat flour (cake, pastry or all-purpose flour). Eggs, baking soda or baking powder, starch, oil, and/or spices may also be added. Tempura batter is traditionally mixed in small batches using chopsticks for only a few seconds, leaving lumps in the mixture that, along with the cold batter temperature, result in the unique fluffy（けばの、ふわふわした）and crisp tempura structure when cooked.   まさかワールドカップ？ in 東ティモール

  何故か日の丸↑（2014年5月15日、ディリ、東ティモール）　街中に、東ティモールの国旗が溢れています。　国旗だけではなく、国旗をモチーフにした装飾用の布も売られています。　5月20日の独立回復記念日に向けて建物は国旗で飾られ、車やオートバイは国旗をつけて走っています。　何気なく見ていたら、道端のヘルメット屋さんの上に日の丸を見つけました。　どういう理由かわかりませんが、何故か日の丸です。　ワールドカップの先取りでしょうか？　それとも、単に昔から掲げられていてそのまま？【Bon appétit !】　Just prior to its independence the governance of Timor Leste was assumed by the UN by way of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor. This rule was established on 25th October 1999.   これがバナナの花 ?? in 東ティモール

  バナナの花↑（2014年5月11日、ディリ、東ティモール）　プールサイドに面している部屋のドアを開けると、目の前にバナナの花がありました。　いつ、こんなに大きくなったのでしょうか？　ついこの間までは、無かったような気がします。　栽培しているバナナではないので、花もバナナそのものも貧弱です。　食べられる大きさまで成長するのかどうか見ものです。【Bon appétit !】　A banana is an edible fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants in the genus（属）Musa.　In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.　The fruit is variable in size, color and firmness, but is usually elongated（細長い）and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe.　The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant.   赤い布で顔を隠されたモニュメント像 in 東ティモール

  噴水の上に建てられた像↑（2014年5月11日、ディリ、東ティモール）　噴水の上に、大きな像が建てられました。　先週は気付きませんでしたので、この1週間で建てられたようです。　国道から空港への別れ道の所にある噴水です。　この像は、もしかしたらニコラウ・ロバト氏の像かもしれません。　ニコラウ・ロバトは、1975年の東ティモール独立宣言時の首相です。　そして、ディリ国際空港の名前は、プレジデンテ・ニコラウ・ロバト空港です。　顔が隠されているので誰かは今のところ謎ですが、もうすぐ明らかになることでしょう。【Bon appétit !】　Nicolau dos Reis Lobato (24 May 1946 – 31 December 1978) was an East-Timorese politician and national hero.　Lobato was prime minister of East Timor from November 28 to December 7, 1975. Upon the arrival of the Indonesian military Lobato, along with other key Fretilin leaders, fled into the Timorese hinterland to fight against the occupying forces. On the final day of 1978 Lobato was ambushed by Indonesian special forces.   稔る田 in Timor Leste

  ミクロレット初体験 in 東ティモール

  ミクロレットにしがみつく人々↑（2014年5月6日、ディリ、東ティモール）　初めて、ミクロレットに乗ってみました。　東ティモールでは、乗合ミニバスをミクロレットと呼びます。　今まで、乗る機会が無かったのですが、日本から娘たちが来たので試しに一緒に乗ってみました。　街の中の海岸沿いでミクロレットに乗ります。　2人の娘が客席に座ると満員となり、自分は運転手の並びの席に座ります。　途中でめまぐるしく人が乗ったり降りたりします。　目的地のチモールプラザに着いて降りる時、運転手が2ドルと言います。　私は、知らないふりをして、笑って、正規運賃の3人分0.75ドルを払います。　ありがとうと言って車をおります。　運転手は最後まで2ドルと言っていましたが、ご愛嬌と言うことでしょう。【Bon appétit !】　You can get a microlet into Dili by walking about 500m from the airport to the roundabout. 　Just stop on the road to the left for a No.10 microlet (white microlet with a gold No.10 on the bonnet).   水のない川 in 東ティモール

  魚と戯れる in 東ティモール

  日の入りは海に in 東ティモール

  日の入り直後の海↑（2014年5月1日、ディリ、東ティモール）　太陽が海に沈みます。　レストランで夕食を撮りながら、夕陽を楽しめる季節になって来ました。　太陽の位置が北側に移動して来るにつれて、北側に海がある東ティモールの首都ディリの場合は、太陽が海側に沈むようになります。　10月から２月頃は太陽は南側にありますので、太陽は、西の陸に沈んでいました。　3月を過ぎる頃から、海に面したレストランからもだんだん正面に太陽が沈むようになっています。　やはり、夕陽は、陸に沈むより、海に沈む方が雄大で美しい夕陽を楽しむことができます。【Bon appétit !】　Thousands of Timorese were engaged in participation of this event, through organising of the event and in supporting the athletes as they passed through their communities. 　The “Festival of Peace” was a further element of the Tour de Timor, which engaged thousands of children and youth in social activities such as art, music and drama at each of the end stages of the Tour in the districts.　The Tour de Timor was covered by an extensive group of national and international press and journalists.   癒される南の島の海 in 東ティモール

  道路から見た海↑（2014年4月27日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　道路から海を眺めています。　エメラルドグリーンの海がきれいです。　東ティモールの海岸はどこもきれいです。　海の中が透き通っています。　首都ディリの海岸もきれいですが、さすがに街の中心部は生活排水が相当流れていますので、見た目はきれいでも衛生的ではないでしょう。　街から自転車で20分も離れれば、そこは南の島の海です。　この美しい海が永遠に綺麗でありますように。【Bon appétit !】　288 riders participated in the 5-day, 450 km race that commenced on the 24th of August and ended in Dili on the 28th of August 2009. 　Hundreds of thousands of Timorese lined the streets of the 450-km course through 9 of the country’s 13 districts, greeting riders each day with smiles, chants and warm hospitality.　The event included a squad of 25 Timorese riders, chosen from a national selection race in July 2009, who represented their country for the first time. 　The Timor-Leste National squad was provided with one month of support with professional coaching, rations（食料配給）and quarters（宿）at the F-FDTL 1 BIL Base Baucau, per-diem（1日当たり）wages and full professional cycling equipment to the value of approx US$2500 each.（http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_de_Timor）

  村のサイクリングクラブ？ in 東ティモール

  サイクリング部員？↑（2014年4月27日、リキサ県、東ティモール）　上り坂を自転車で走っていると、上の方から子供が乗った2台の自転車が近付いてきます。　麓の村の子供たちで、自転車に乗って時々我々と並走することがあります。　普段山の麓で自転車に乗っているだけで、坂は登らないのですが、今日は珍しいことに、坂を上ってきたようです。　言葉が通じないのですが、パンクしたので来てくれと言っているようです。　一緒に道路を登って行くと、さらに3台の自転車がありました。　その内の一人のタイヤが、空気が無くなりかけています。　どうも、パンクというより、空気が無いだけの様な気がします。　試しに空気を入れてみるとパンパンになるまで入り、すぐには抜けそうにありません。　これから村まで下って行くということですので、時間的にも10分かからないで降りてしまうでしょうから、とりあえずは大丈夫でしょう。　少し冒険した村の子供たちでした。【Bon appétit !】　The Tour de Timor is an international Mountain Bike race held in East Timor.   突然道路わきに林立する怪しげな棒 in 東ティモール

  パンの朝 in 東ティモール

  魚のバケツ in 東ティモール

  赤いじゅうたんでタラップへ ?? in 東ティモール

  タラップへ続く赤いじゅうたん↑（2014年1月9日、ディリ、東ティモール）　赤いじゅうたんがシルクエア―のタラップまで伸びています。　ここは東ティモールの首都ディリにあるプレジデンテ・ニコラウ・ロバト国際空港です。　国賓が搭乗するのでしょうか。　確かに、タイのシリントーン王女が帰国の途に着くために、今（2014年1月9日）、空港の特別待合室にいますが、特別機で帰ると聞いています。　まさか!!空港の職員が、シルクエア―だけにタイの航空会社と間違えているのでしょうか??　何とも不思議な東ティモールです。【Bon appétit !】　Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.　Her title in Thai is the female equivalent of the title held by her brother, Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn.　The Thai constitution was altered in 1974 to allow for female succession, thus making her eligible for the throne.　As the eldest female child of the royal family (excluding Ubol Ratana, who married a foreign commoner), her position is equivalent to a princess royal.

  初めて入った日本料理店↑（2014年4月22日、ディリ、東ティモール）　今日の昼食は、日本料理店へ行きました。　初めての体験です。　ここ東ティモールの首都ディリには2軒の日本料理店があり、もう1軒の店は何度か食べに行っているのですが、今日の店は今まで入ったことがありません。　2013年7月30日に東ティモールに来た時はこの店は違う場所にあり、その当時も含めて今日が初めてです。　今月のおすすめメニューの中にある定食を頼みます。　刺身、美味しいです。　ご飯、美味しく炊けています。　どうやって炊いたのでしょうか。　胡麻ドレッシングサラダは刺身には何となく合いませんが、贅沢は言いません。　初めて入った日本料理店、思ったよりおいしい料理が出てきたので、ちょっと驚きの東ティモールでした。【Bon appétit !】　The staple food in East Timor is rice. 　Commonly grown food crops include taro, cassava, sweet potatoes and maize. 　Beans, cabbage, cowpeas（ささげ）, onions, tomatoes and spinach are well-liked vegetables. 　People also rear（飼育する）poultry, goats and pigs. 　Fish forms an important part of the diet and acts as a supplement to any meal. 　Most traditional East Timorese recipes use a generous（たっぷりの）dose of spices.（http://wikitravel.org/en/East_Timor）

  街の家具屋さん健在 in 東ティモール

  道のわきの家具屋さん↑（2014年4月17日、ディリ、東ティモール）　道路に面して作りかけの窓枠のような形のものが並んでいます。　向こうの方には、作りかけのタンスのようなものがあります。　道を歩いていると、道路沿いにたくさんの家具を作っている処があります。　日本では、家具はほとんどが家具工場で作られていますが、ここ東ティモールでは家具を作っている処が街の中のあちこちにあります。　そういえば、ラオスでもベッドやタンスなどを作っている店をあちこちで見かけました。　様々な居住形態があるので、住民の求めに応じてオーダーメイドの家具を作るニーズがたくさんあるのでしょう。　家具の材料は合板や化粧板では無く本物の木ですので、丈夫で長持ちがしそうです。　考えようによっては、とても贅沢な家具生活と言うことができます。【Bon appétit !】　The eastern half of the island of Timor, East Timor, is a former Portuguese colony that declared itself independent from Portugal on 28 November 1975. 　Nine days later, Indonesian forces invaded and occupied the former colony, with the tacit（暗黙の）approval of the United States and Australia. 　By July 1976 the colony had been annexed as the province of Timor Timur. 　Over the next two decades, Indonesia integrated the colony, with many significant positions of authority being occupied by Indonesians rather than the East Timorese. 　An estimated 100,000 to 250,000 individuals are believed to have lost their lives during a campaign of pacification（講和、和解）during this time.(http://wikitravel.org/en/East_Timor)

  こんなところにパン屋さん in 東ティモール

  パン屋さん↑（2014年4月19日、ディリ、東ティモール）　パン屋さんだとは知りませんでした。　もう何回もこの店の前を通過しているのですが、今まで一度もここに店があることに気が付きませんでした。　朝、プールサイドで出会った知人から、美味しいパン又はケーキを売っている店を3軒教えてもらいましたので、早速見に行ってきました。　そのうちの一軒は、ディリの街から西の方へ行き空港への分かれ道よりさらに西に行くとそのお店がありました。　確かに正面にMAZZARELLO BAKERYと書かれています。　早速中に入ると既に2組の家族連れで賑わっています。　2種類のバケットを売っていたのですがどちらも持っていくには大きすぎるので、小さいフランスパンを一つ購入しました。　昼に早速食べてみます。　パンの中身がしっかりとしてもちもち感があり、美味しく頂くことができました。　美味しいパンをあまり見かけない東ティモールで、こういう店を知ると嬉しいものです。【Bon appétit !】　Although East Timor is male dominated, the women too play an important part of the culture, some of them are also known to be the bread earners of the family.　In the early days the East Timorese were happy with their own culture, hiding away from outsiders.　They enjoyed a healthy cultural life in spite of their hardships to cope with their occupations who were mainly farmers and fishermen. 　They tended for their needs on their own and did not depend on the outside world for anything and were aliens to the foreign cultures that later influenced their lifestyle.（http://www.easttimorpress.com/culture/the-culture-of-east-timor）

  えっ!!雨季なのに橋梁工事 in 東ティモール

  橋の橋脚ができてきたコモロ橋↑（2014年4月19日、ディリ、東ティモール）　新しい橋の橋脚もだいぶ出来上がってきました。　ここは、東ティモールの首都ディリにあるコモロ川に係る橋です。　この橋は空港から町に向かう途中にあり、2013年9月16日から古い橋梁を壊し始め、雨季の期間中を通じて工事を行っていました。　この橋ができれば、2車線の橋が2つとなりますので、複々線の通行となります。　雨季のため、最近では川の水が流れるようになりましたが、大きな土管を数本川底においておけば間に合う位の水量ですので工事への影響はありません。【Bon appétit !】　The prime minister of East Timor is on a three-day visit to Perth to speak at a function for supporters of a fund that helps the Australian Special Air Service Regiment members.　Xanana Gusmao will be in the West Australian capital from Thursday to Saturday.　His office said the main purpose of the visit is to be the keynote speaker at a function for the Special Air Services Resources Fund, which also assists dependants of SAS members and former members who are in need of relief or support.（http://www.sbs.com.au/news/article/2014/04/03/east-timor-pm-perth-sas-function）

  なんと、JFC が東ティモールに

  開店間近（??）のJFC↑（2014年4月18日、ディリ、東ティモール）　いつの間にか、紫色の店ができあがっています。　何の店かと思って近づいてみると、なんとKFC !!　年末にはバーガーキングが開店したと思ったら、今度はKFC。　このところ、東チモールの首都ディリでは世界的規模のチェーン店の出店が続きます。　でも、紫色のKFC ?? 　近づいてみると、なんと、KFCではなくJFCです。　JFCって何でしょうか？　ネットで調べたらJapan Finance Corporation（日本政策金融公庫）。　東ティモールでまさかそんなはずはありません。　どうもインドネシアの女優ジュペさんの名前からつけた名前で、ジュペ フライド チキンと呼ぶのだそうです。　開店間近と判断しましたが、さてどうでしょうか。　あるいはもう開店している ??【Bon appétit !】　Fried chicken (also referred to as Southern fried chicken) is a dish consisting of chicken pieces usually from broiler chickens which have been floured or battered and then pan-fried, deep fried, or pressure fried. 　The breading（パン粉つけ）adds a crisp coating or crust to the exterior.　What separates fried chicken from other fried forms of chicken is that generally the chicken is cut at the joints and the bones and skin are left intact（そのまま）. 　Crisp well-seasoned skin, rendered of excess fat, is a hallmark（優良の証明、太鼓判）of well made fried chicken.

  初注文の牛肉野菜スープ in 東ティモール

  夕食↑（2014年4月16日、ディリ、東ティモール）　夕食時、このレストランのメニューに載っているのにこれまで頼んだことが無い料理を注文しました。　牛肉野菜スープです。　ベジタリアン的生活をしているので、「牛肉」の文字が書かれている故、注文しないできました。　それでも、東ティモールに来て既に8ヶ月、いつもメニューで見ているので、今が潮時！と思い注文してみました。　肉を食べることになるので、サラダも頼んでバランスをとります。　頼んでいないキムチが付いて来ましたので、野菜が優勢となりました。　出てきたスープは、野菜スープのような感じで、スライスされた牛肉が入っています。　具が豊富なため、スープだけでも十分おかずになる一品でした。【Bon appétit !】　Premier Li Keqiang said China is willing to deepen cooperation with Timor-Leste in agriculture, energy and personal exchanges, as the two countries face similar tasks such as economic development, improving people's living conditions and eliminating poverty.　China is willing to push forward the building of the Maritime Silk Road with Southeast Asian nations, Li said. 　China proposed the concept of building a Maritime Silk Road last year as an economic corridor to expand its space for international economic and technological cooperation and accelerate the building of free trade areas.（http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2014-04/09/content_17418539.htm）

  川らしくなった川 in 東ティモール

  昨日の雨で川らしくなった川↑（2014年4月16日、ディリ、東ティモール）　久しぶりに歩いて出勤です。　昨日は夕方の豪雨で自転車に乗れず、知人の車に乗せてもらい帰宅しました。　コモロ川の橋を渡ります。　雨季といってもほとんど干上がっているような川です。　ところが、今日は違います。　昨日降った雨が、どんどん流れていますので、何となく川のようです。　橋の工事のために、橋の下は重機が通れるよう大きな土管を埋めて水を通していますので、この手前で水が溜まります。　そのため、橋の下の辺りで水が溜まり、川幅が広くなっています。　そんなこんなで今日一日は、川らしい様相を呈しているコモロ川です。【Bon appétit !】　BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhua) -- China and Timor-Leste have pledged to establish a partnership of good-neighborly friendship and mutual trust and benefit, as Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao concluded a week-long visit to China.　According to a joint statement released by the two governments on Monday, they agreed to strengthen political, economic, trade, energy, agricultural, defense and security cooperation during Gusmao's tour, the first official China visit by a prime minister of Timor-Leste in 11 years.　The Chinese side spoke highly of Timor-Leste's achievements since its founding and expressed willingness to continue helping Timor-Leste in its national development, social progress and improvement of people's wellbeing.   東ティモールの天気実況中継

  早朝の雲がモクモク↑（2014年2月15日、ディリ、東ティモール）　朝起きてドアを開けると、目の前の東の空に異様な雲が一つ天頂までモクモクと登っています。　巨大な積乱雲のようでもありますが、何なのでしょうか？　途中でカナトコ雲になりかかったところが、その上の空気層を突き破ったようにも見えます。　小さな積乱雲がいくつも雲の足元に見受けられます。　東ティモールの天気は東から変わって来ますので、この後真っ暗になるかもしれないと思いながら出勤しました。　日中は、雲が南東方向を覆っていましたが、東ティモールの首都ディリの町には入ってこないようです。　ところが、15時半頃、突然の豪雨となりました。　職場のオフィス内にも水が流れ込み、水から逃げ回りながら仕事をします。　その後外は真っ暗となり、2時間以上たった今も降り続いています。　時々、ものすごい雷が落ちます。　雨期の終わりもそろそろでしょう。【Bon appétit !】　The country is located in 08° 35' S and 125° 35' E. 　This position tells us a lot about the East Timor weather. 　It clearly shows that the climate here is hot. 　Monsoon rain falls here between December and March. 　When the rainy season is over, the temperature rises dramatically. 　The humidity, therefore, increases as well. （http://www.mapsofworld.com/timor-leste/geography/east-timor-weather.html）

  田んぼのある風景 in 東ティモール

  田園↑（2014年4月5日、マナツト県、東ティモール）　田植えを終えた田んぼが目の前に広がります。　遠くの方にある家は、日本の藁葺き屋根の農家のように見えて何となく日本を思い出させてくれます。　ヤシの木があるので、ここは南国であることに気付きます。　ここから東の方向へ足を延ばしてバウカウ県に入ると、すでに穂が出ていて、稲の花が咲いています。　熱帯地方ですので、だいたいいつ植えても米は作れますが、雨季と乾季がありますので、水が来る時期やリスク分散を考えて品種や時期を決めて田植えをすることになります。【Bon appétit !】　Maize and rice are the country's main staple foods. 　Over the last 100 years a great deal of effort has been put into increasing the rice production in East Timor in order to make the country self-sufficient.　Rice, when planted on terraces is also perceived as a means of protecting the soil from erosion. 　The total area reached a peak of 80 000 ha before 1975, but was never enough for the needs of the country.（http://gov.east-timor.org/MAFF/English/Rice.htm）

  新年おめでとうございます

  水かけ祭り↑（2007年4月14日、ビエンチャン、ラオス）　ラオスやタイでは今日がお正月です。　新年おめでとうの挨拶をします。　ここ東ティモールはインターナショナル正月ですので、普段通りの日曜日です。　でも、タイ人のコミュニティーは異なります。　今日は、新年を祝って水かけ祭りです。　私も、タイ人のコミュニティーに午後からお呼ばれしてきました。　レイの花飾りを首にかけられ、新年おめでとうの言葉とともに水をかけられます。　急いで、時計、財布、カメラ等身の回りの物をすべて安全な場所に置いて、思いっきり水をかけられます。　いきなりびっしょりです。　べビーパウダーを顔に塗りたくられ、顔を真っ白にさせられました。　後は、ビールを飲んで踊ります。　断続的に水をかけられ、びしょ濡れとなった東ティモールでの新年のお祭りでした。【Bon appétit !】　Water is used for washing homes, Buddha images, monks, and soaking friends and passers-by. 　Students first respectfully pour water on their elders, then monks for blessings of long life and peace, and last of all they throw water at each other. 　The water is perfumed with flowers or natural perfumes. 　Some people prefer flowers in the water to give a pleasant smell, as well as adding cologne/perfume. 　Over the years another tradition has developed with Lao New Year: people will smear（塗りつける）or throw cream (shaving cream or whipped cream) or white powder on each other during the celebrations.

  ラオスの結婚披露パーティー

  披露宴の始まり↑（2014年3月14日、ビエンチャン、ラオス）　稚児行列（のようなもの）から結婚披露パーティーが始まりました。　稚児の後から新婦、親戚などが続きます。　新郎も続きます。　最後に、太鼓や笙の楽隊が続きます。　このような新郎新婦の入場は初めて見ました。　ラオスの披露宴は、300名から500名くらいの規模のものが多く、正面でバンド演奏が行われ、三々五々人々が集まり始め、適当な席に座り、親戚を代表して挨拶があるほかはこれと言った式次第もなく、食事をして、踊って三々五々帰るというパターンがほとんどです。　何となくだらだらと続く印象です。　今回参加した披露宴は珍しく式次第の様なものがあり、プレセントを渡したり、話をしたりする場面があり、また、新郎新婦の好きな歌が歌手により歌われたりと、いつもと異なる締まった感じの披露宴でした。　伝統的な衣装の女性がエレキギターで歌う場面もあり、年配の方は度肝を抜かれたのではないかと思います。　ダンスを踊って、三々五々帰るというパターンは同じです。　自分も適当な時に、新郎新婦に挨拶して、会場を後にしました。【Bon appétit !】　Today, most people split their wedding into two parts, one is a traditional Laos wedding ceremony and the other is a modern Laos wedding party. 　Some have the traditional Laos wedding ceremony at home in the morning and some do it in the afternoon. 　Whether the baci takes place in the morning or afternoon, food and drinks are served to the guests at the end of the ceremony. 　The party is then held at a hotel or a restaurant in the evening when more guests are invited. 　This practice is more common among city people.（http://www.laos-guide-999.com/Laos-wedding.html）
