Many indivisuals involeved in sports (fans, players, and coaches) believed that the best way to improve one's skills in a sport is practice constantly. For example, it is not uncommon for coaches to stress that the key to improve one's skills is to practice everyday. Those who hold this view are essentialy endorsing the often heard "practice makes perfect" approach to sports. A number of star professional sports players, however, note that such an approach does not accurately reflect their own experience because they claim that skills improved most when they alternated periods of intense practice with periods of rest.
