15日は、米沢駅から山形交通バスで約25分（上杉神社からだと約20分）のところに位置する小野川温泉に1泊することにした。
小野川温泉は米沢の市街地から山を隔てた南西側、大樽川の谷間にある。平安時代の836（承和3）年に、女性歌人の小野小町が発見したという伝説がある、1000年以上の歴史を持つ由緒ある温泉地。戦国時代には、伊達政宗公が落馬で負ったケガを癒したとも伝えられ、江戸時代中期には上杉鷹山公が小野川の湯の塩分濃度の濃さに目を付け、製塩に挑戦しようとした（結果として塩を作ることはできなかった）など、数多くの歴史上の人物とゆかりがある温泉地である。
僕が今回お世話になったのは、やな川屋旅館。小野川の温泉街を一望できる展望露天風呂が特徴の宿。
僕は夕食に米沢牛のすき焼きを食べられるプランを選んだ。
On the night of the first day, September 15th, I stayed in Onogawa Hot Springs over the mountains from Yonezawa, taking about 25 minutes of travel by bus from Yonezawa Station.
Onogawa Hot Springs was found over 1000 years ago by a famous tanka poet in the 9th century, Komachi Ono. In the 16th century, Masamune Date healed his injury from his horse-riding accident. In the 18th century (the middle of the Edo Period in Japan), the 9th domain head of Yonezawa, Yozan Uesugi, tried to make salts from the hot springs water because of its high salt concentration (unrealised).
The inn I stayed in was Yanagawaya, where an open-air hot spring bath with a view around Onogawa was equipped on its fourth/fifth floor.
I chose a plan with dinner and breakfast, and my dinner was Yonezawa Beef sukiyaki.
