I have started my business as a ferret importer and distributor since 1996, have started research on ferret health since 1998, and have sold supplements for ferrets all over Japan since 2000.I have written 4 books, two of them are about ferrets and the others are about pet nutrition.I am specialized in some diseases or illnesses for ferret healthcare, and especially specialized in controlling insulinoma. It can be controlled for a maximum of 67months, and ferrets can be controlled more than 36months without attacks. Now I would like to provide a brief instruction how to control insulinoma in English here.InsulinomaInsulinoma is a disease, whose main symptom is hypoglycemia, arisen from pancreatic cancer. I explain about this disease with introducing how we deal with this in Japanese ways, because the treatments for this disease should differ according to each country. Please let me know if you find any differences from how you deal with it. Anyway, it has been easy at least for me to control insulinoma attacks.Insulinoma is tumor in pancreas. It is not easy to eliminate it perfectly.Attack is a symptom which can be subsided in a short time. There are two types of problems which attacks of insulinoma are provoked, lack of energy and brain problems.Regarding the problem of lack of energy, it is like “out of gas, and the symptoms are scratching its chin, empty eyes, inert moving, sleeping a lot, and wobbling.Regarding brain problems, its brain is shut out to protect itself as an acute hypoglycemia occurs. The symptom is similar to epilepsy.In 2002, I encounter a trigger to solve problems arisen from ferrets’ insulinoma. Then the method has been improved as the time passed. The idea was brought from a diet treatment for epilepsy, a worldwide major ingredient which was produced by Japan's first technology and methods in Japanese folk medicine.As first thing you should not do, you should not give your ferret glucose or sugar to blood glucose level as Insulinoma occurs. Even if the symptom becomes better once, the problem can be worse later on. This is very important.And ferrets tend to have illnesses or diseases due to nutritional deficiency. Ferrets' nutritional needs frequently change. So, a specific amount of food can be enough for them when they are in good conditions. But sometimes the amount is not enough and then the illness or diseases are provoked in that situation.Insulinoma attacks is influenced by weather condition a lot. There are four seasons in Japan and we also have rainy season. During the season, ferrets' energy consumptions are risen due to low pressure which causes rain.Adrenal gland diseases and hepatic insufficiencies have effects on insulinoma. When I take care of ferrets, I try to care about both of those adrenal glands and livers to avoid any attacks even if those don't have problems with those adrenal glands and livers. It doesn't work good with addressing each organ because adrenal glands, pancreas and livers influence each other. So, I deal with those organs as one thing like Ferret Syndrome.What is important in addressing insulinoma is stabilizing blood glucose level and continuous energy production.It will be easier to understand if you imagine campfire. By using thick or thin fire woods, with a single ignition, the fire is gradually spread by wood to wood, and can keep burning for hours. Like this, One-meal-a-day method is applied in my treatment. Several types of ingredients with time difference of energy burning are mixed together. For example, one ingredient starts burning five minutes after taking the food. And another one starts ten minutes after taking, and the other one starts thirty minutes after taking. Then ferrets will not have attacks caused by lack of energy and then their peaceful lives will become reality.As I mentioned above, ferrets' nutritional needs vary erratically due to conditions of adrenal glands and livers and seasonal changes. It is important that ferrets are controlled and taken care to avoid lack of energy at each timing of conditions or changes. Of course, it is not that all we should do is to provide ferrets food produced in my method. By each adjusting to the conditions or changes, we can reach to good results.Energy Supply in InsulinomaThree stand-alone energy systems are used when insulinoma appears. In a hybrid car, a gasoline engine and an electric motor are to power the car. In the energy supply for ferrets with Insulinoma, three systems are used. And I also refer to electric generating systems when I explain about this topic. In Japan, we have several systems to generate electricity such as nuclear power generation, hydraulic power generation, thermal power generation, wind power generation, solar power generation or geothermal power generation. Except solar power generation, electricity is generated by driving a turbine. The systems are divided in two types; One is that a turbine is directly driven by wind or water, and the other is that a turbine is driven by water vapor which water is boiled by nuclear power, fire power and geothermal power. And a turbine doesn't have to be driven with solar power generation. I usually explain about energy supply for ferrets with insulinoma after understanding these things above.Ferrets take glucose sugar and fruit sugar as energy. Those are stand-alone energy generating systems.When I manage nutrition for ferrets, I combine protein, fat and sugar for ferrets' livings without attacks. This is, like the electric generating systems mentioned above, protein turns into glucose sugar and then into energy, and there are two types of energy production methods for sugar, glucose sugar and fruit sugar.This is how we can achieve the result by adjusting and combining ingredients in accordance with seasonal situations and disease conditions.This is the big picture that briefly introduces how to deal with insulinoma. I understand this is quite long, but please kindly understand that I tried to explain as briefly as possible.
