Himeji Castle
Just after getting home, my oldest daughter gave me a piece of paper while saying, “Mom, I learned about Mimeji Castle in my English Lesson. It was saved despite of three big crisis, Tokugawa Ieyasu's command that all castles except one in each province must be destroyed, the Meiji Restoration and World War Two. The castle had come through the bombing undamaged. Which do you think it was on purpose or by chance? Although many people have speculated that it had been spared on purpose, it was only by chance!”Himeji is my home town and she was born there and visited Himeji Castle many times, so that she must have been very interested in the story. I've read an article that mentioned it. "Water saved the beautiful white castle. The radar of the bomber recognized it was a lake because of the water of the moat."It was lucky for us. Whenever I visit there, I'm impressed a lot by the graceful beauty. Actually, my high school is on inside of the outer moat. Every morning, I went to high school through the big gate! It's worth a visit!
