『デス妻2』Episode4の単語メモ。
いつもながらアンドリュー、ひどいなぁ。そしてジョージも、さらにひどい・・・・。

今日は、注文してあった「mark-my-time」（←読書時間をはかるためのデジタルな「しおり」）などが届いたので、遊ぶのに忙しくて、最後まで単語チェック出来なかった。反省。

have some nerve ---- have nerve［図太い］
「図太い」は、状況に応じて「ものおじしない」の意で使われたり「図々しい」の意で使われたりするが、have nerveも同様両方に使える。
ところがnerveの前にａかone'sを入れてhave a [one's] nerveとすると、ほとんどの場合「図々しい」という意味になる。このへんが英語の面白いところであり、難しいところ。従ってHe has nerve.は「彼はものおじしない」というよいニュアンスの場合も、「彼は図々しい」という悪いニュアンスの場合もあるが、He has his nerve.なら「彼は図々しい」という悪い意味だけになる。
