台風が近づいていますね。連休にまた帰省することになっているので、ちょっと心配です。

今回も少し単語を調べました。調べ始めると、キリがなくて、どんどん増えるので困ります。

mundane 平凡な、ありふれた　a pretty mundane life かなり平々凡々な生活.
suck up to Edie おべっかを使う
sneak up on 忍び寄る

be caught off guard 不意打ちを食う
　　○「社長が急に社内の見回りに来たんだって？」「うん。部長、不意をつかれてけっこう焦ってたよ」I hear the president suddenly came to take a look around the office. / Yeah. The boss was caught off guard and got pretty flustered.

pull the wool over someone's eyes　たぶらかす
このwoolは「（昔、男性がかぶっていた白いかつらの）羊毛」。
表現全体で、「（～のかつらの）毛を目のところまで下げる」ということ。
「目を見えなくする」から転じて、The defendant sought to pull the wool over the jury's eyes by claiming that the bribe was a political contribution.（被告は、賄賂を政治献金だと言って陪審員をたぶらかそうとした）のように、広く「（口実などをもうけて）だます、たぶらかす」の意で用いる。（asahipressSENTENCEより）
