☆IN contrast to the finish of the colt's Classic half an hour later, the French version of the 1,000 Guineas stuck remarkably closely to the pre-race script, as Beauty Parlour (Elie Lellouche/ Christophe Soumillon) maintained her 100 per cent record.Lellouche was spanning a gap of 21 years since winning the Pouliches with Danseuse Du Soir, who also carried the famous aquamarine Wildenstein silks. In truth the daughter of Deep Impact was made to work a little harder than anticipated in the closing stages by Ballydoyle interloper Up and Joseph O'Brien."You scared us !" said David Wildenstein as he received the congratulations of Coolmore's Christy Grassick in the winner's enclosure.Soumillon was winning his first Classic since signing as retained rider to the family at the beginning of last year and Lellouche, whose history with the Wildensteins is much longer, was the first to pay tribute to his jockey."She's still unbeaten so I'm very happy," he said. "Christophe rode a wise race, I think he had to go for home when he did. If he'd waited he might not have had enough time."Lellouche has made no secret of how highly he rates Beauty Parlour ever since she won her first start at Saint-Cloud last year by eight lengths. She now looks set to attempt the same Classic double as recent star fillies Divine Proportions, Zarkava and Golden Lilac."I'll have to talk to the owners but normally we'd go for the [Prix de] Diane," explained Lellouche. "She has an entry in England in the Coronation Stakes but I think she'll go to Chantilly. I'm not sure I want to travel her yet."Up and third placed Topeka were both made to wait at the very rear of the field due to their wide draws and the adverse geometry of Longchamp's mile course. That Joseph O'Brien was able to get in a challenging position at all from widest of all in stall 14 was tribute both to his skill and Up's ability. The daughter of Galileo became the fourth horse trained by Aidan O'Brien to reach the frame in the last decade, while stablemate After finished fourth, one place ahead of another Coolmore representative Fire Lily."We tried our best and it's a very good filly that won," said John Magnier in the aftermath. "Joseph probably picked her over the other filly and the draw probably made it more difficult, but all credit to the winner."Magnier went on to pay tribute to the vision of the late Alec Wildenstein in selecting Beauty Parlour's sire Deep Impact."Apparently one of the last things that Alec Wildenstein did, God bless him, was to send that mare all the way to Japan. It's a pity he wasn't here to see it."Robert Collet was delighted with the improved effort of Topeka, who made eyecatching late ground up the rail under Ioritz Mendizabal having turned into the straight virtually last. And the veteran trainer had no hesitation in nominating a defence of the Coronation Stakes he won with Immortal Verse last year for Topeka's next assignment."I think I'll take her straight to the Coronation," he said. "Last year the filly [Immortal Verse] didn't get to run at Newmarket, then ran no race here so we went to Chantilly. But each case is different. This filly really found her form again here and we have to look at the Coronation."
